You seniors use syringes or G2G?
    #2372407 - 02/23/04 04:26 PM (14 years, 4 days ago)

Hello guys, i was just was wondering about the most popular inoculate method. At first Ivan inoculated with a spore syringe. But, lately he has been keeping 1 jar out of a batch of colonized grains, and going a G2G. He started doing this after failed spore syringe teks. Just wondering, thanks!

G2G is supreme but you do need to use spores again cause the mycilum will die out eventually

Even if you use a freshly colonized jar for every batch? Oh! So how long will it keep going? is it how long or how many before it dies out?

The whole point of G2G is to take one jar that you probly only used 1-2 cc's of solution in and turn it into 5...maybe more. So your saving spore solution if you dont have much, because normally it would take 5-10 cc's of spore solution to make 5 jars. (this way your only using 1-2)

So it saves... but of course more time is taken because you have to wait for your single jar to colonize and then wait for the jars you tranfered mycilium in to colonize as well.

Penalties against drug use should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against the possession of marijuana and mushrooms in private for personal use.

I do both as well. Its true a clone or
selected multispore mycelium does suffer
from genetic drift (they can get weaker
with age) this hasnt happened to me with a culture
ive been using for 1 year about. So though it
happens, its not a fast thing. So you have a year to
get ontop of your syringe tec

use G2G definetly. its way quicker (afoaf has jars that colonize in 5-6 days), and if done in a glovebox, theres only a slightly higher chance of contams.

Peroxide kicks ass with G2G.

Actually, it's very easy to isolate a super producing sclerotia strain.

Follow the strain isolation technique on Let's Grow Mushrooms, and then select sectors early which are brown in color.  By the second or third transfer, you'll see stones developing, and this is only about 1 month after the original swipe of spores on agar.

Now, take each stone and move it to a new dish.  Soon, the mycelium will grow out and you'll see fresh stones developing, and if they're good strains, the sclerotia is forming long before the mycelium reaches the edge of the plate.  Pick strains which form four or five stones within two weeks and use these for your grain masters.
