Hey, all. I have inherited a laminar flow hood and don't know much about them. I was told all I had to do was screw the motor to the box and it was ready to go. Any tips/suggestions? Thanks in advance

If you don't know how to make/use one then you don't need one.
Flowhoods are for people with enough aptitude to figure it out on their own even if they came into the situation knowing nothing
That's my 0.02

To reiterate, this was given to me and I thought I would ask for advice here because there are a lot of reputable folks with a ton of knowledge. No need to discourage noobs...

Looks nice i would screw it down and make a enclosure for the fan so you can put a prefilter but i know people run them like that turn it on after screwing the fan in and check with a lighter it should be atleast a 45 angle without flickering if its 90° or more put a plastic tub on top with a big ass hole cut like the whole bottom out prefilter it then check it again

Looks like you inherited a Series 1 flow hood that came from Fungi Perfecti originally. It's a nice little unit. It really does look as if you only need to screw it to the box and that's it. It's not hard at all.
If you want the expensive HEPA filter to last a lot longer then you can easily retrofit a prefilter to it. I bought some furnace filters off Amazon, cut them to my desired size and used gaffer tape to tape one to the intake. When the prefilter starts to become dirty then you swap it with a fresh one. I also wrap my flowhood in plastic wrap when it's not in use so dust and contaminates don't build up on it when it's not in use. It makes cleaning a lot easier.
Check this thread for info on adding a prefilter: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19619874/page/1

You're welcome. The flowhood is going to make your life so much easier. You'll be able to make a fuck ton of inoculated grain spawn by doing grain to grain transfers. Working in a glove box is a bitch.

Well we don't Work in glove boxes we make still air boxes. If you don't make one that's comfortable for you to work in that's dumb. Build one that gives you plenty of room.
For noobs sterile technique is far easier in a sab than a hood. It takes more skill to use a hood, its not a magical solution to needing to learn sterile technique, so I always recommend a sab to anyone who hasn't been doing things for more than a while so that some success can be achieved
