Isn't it lovely when people show pictures of random mushrooms thinking they found something with value?

North east Ohio doesn't have very many actives.  I live here.  Nothing I would care to ingest exists here.  They are more along the Ohio river valley.

So you wouldn't care to ingest these 5 cubes I've found within 50 feet of all these within the past 2 days?

Didn't expect those to be of significant value, just thought it couldn't hurt to make sure, since I didn't expect these cubes to be here either.

well I ate the first one i found last night, after multiple TIs confirmed it was a cube... and I can tell you without a doubt that it was not just a good one, but a great one.

North of the West Virginia/Penn/Ohio corner, and south of Y-town... I know cubes aren't supposed to be here. glad I kept an open mind!

I was hoping the ones in this post might be Pan cincts, but I'm a noob and didn't expect to be right.

Exactly which cube?

Are you sure it's a cube?

It was this big one:

After my experience last night, yes. I'm ABSOLUTELY sure. :mushroom2:
Surprisingly potent too!
(the two small ones weren't active, but I'm told are edible)

It's posted and discussed in this thread;

Damn dude, you must've not read the current threads. Homeboy found cubes right across from where you've been standing complaining like a bitch this whole time.

Did you get a specific ID?  I'm curious, very very curious.

It looks like a good bruise but that's not an ID.  I'd be curious as to exact ID.

I'm not far from Youngstown.

In all fairness, I live very near one of the main tributaries to the ohio river, and this area is actually considered part of the Ohio River Valley.
and it's been a fairly warm summer, which i would guess is what cubes like about the southern climates.

And LOL about Ytown - hoes and snow

Spores and pollen can travel a long way.  It has been a warmer than usual season.

I'd like to see some cubes around.  There are lot's of pastures around but I can only explore a goat farm due to trespass laws.  I have inhibition.

I have seen lot's of different fungi popping up where goat manure has been.  It's interesting.  Not into eating anything right now, just knowing.

You know, it wouldn't be outta line for you to apologize for initially trying to ruin JagerTree's thread. He may not need it, but perhaps for the rest of us. Look back at how shitty you were.

Looks like a bevy of inactive pans (paps and antillarum) and then in the last 2 pics the brown gilled one is Conocybe and the crowded white gilled one is Pluteus

Reincarnation.  Either back into this world or another.  Mostly I think we learn that none of it mattered and we had no power.  Just as we were born.

I would love for there to be justice but nobody was going to see our perspective anyway.

I walked passed several others, that I'm now fairly sure were cubes also, in the same spot, over the past month.  I didn't figure they were actually cubes because so many people told me they just don't happen around here.  I figured I'd take 1 more chance yesterday with that first one I found and posted it asking for an id.

I'd say it's counterproductive to be anything less than polite, open minded, and encouraging when noobs (like me) post asking for an ID.  Many people might not share or even believe it when they're lucky enough to find a rare gem like I did, just because somebody gave a hard time and discouraged them earlier on a thread.
Now that I've found these, I'm excited at the idea of being able to contribute the spores to people who, in the future, might selectively breed a colder climate cube that might spread around the world and be more available to everyone.  I know that's a pretty grand dream, but ya never know.

Call me old fashioned but when in doubt I don't eat them.  Even when I know I don't eat them.

It still seems like there is doubt it's a cube.  I've yet to hear exactly what variety it is.  Curious however I am.

Awesome, Thanks for IDing them!

Is it possible that pluteus is active?

Bro, the walls were melting.  That 1 mushroom gave me more visuals and more beautiful colors and patterns than I got from the 15 hawaiian pan cyans that I had last year.
I waited for multiple Trusted IDers to confirm before I ate it.

I think that it would've done you more good to eat it and reflect on your life than it did for me.

If it isn't a cube, what would look like THAT, and do what it did to my brain?

I dunno.  It might of been a cube.  I know hardly nothing about the world of mycology.

Just saying that it's interesting.

Probably Pluteus cervinus, not active.

And your cubes are most certainly cubes.

3rd pic, far right shroom looks to be a cube coming straight from the dung. I dont doubt cubes could get to the Ohio river valley, especially since ovoids just showed up in west palm beach fla.
