a sub species of panaeolus?
    #23722462 - 10/09/16 02:32 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Hello! I have found a selection of what i reckon are Panaeolina foenisecii, or some other panaeolus. They are very small and were growing out of soil covered in wood chipping, they had a brown ring around the bottom of the  round light brown cap.the stalks were thin, about 0.5 to 1 mm , by 4-6 cm tall, fairly straight, light brown, some with a red tint. some had a small lump almot becoming a nipple, and the gills were blue grey when alive, turned black now dried.  Can anyone confirm for me what these might be ( there are more photos in my gallery) and if so, Are they edible?
cheers

They are dried up likely Psathyrellaceae.

Sounds like psyathrella, I have many on my lawn and flower beds.  They do to me look like pans but no cigar...

thanks for the reply, I cant find a photo of the mushroom you named that matches the appearance or habitat of the mushrooms ive picked, they looked more like panaeolus cinctulus but with much thinner stems? are their poisonous varieties in the panaeolus or psyathrella families?

They are not magic, but beyond a better ID.
