Starting up with agar question

I have spores on sterile cotton swabs in test tubes, that have been sitting for about 4 months now from a previous grow. I am planning to simply swab the spores on to the agar with the cotton swabs. Are there any better ways of going about this? should I wet the cotton swab first or anything?
Thanks all!

Use say 1-1.5% agar instead of 2%. Aka 10-15 grams per liter rather than the typical 20g/L agar
Otherwise swab away.
Don't scrape up the agar either. Swab across the surface.

When I swab spores onto a plate I take the lid off and swipe the spores in a S shape over the agar.
My trick is that I hold the plate upside down when I do this as mold spore fall and this way u get good results.
Unlock the lid remove the plate holding it upside down, swipe and bosh replace the plate, lock.
This is al if you are using pasty easy's. if not im not sure.

I think people know it's there I just think they skipped library day in 5th grade where they teach you about booleans and the advanced tab.

There's some growths in there I wouldn't trust at all. Why is everything so wispy? What is your recipe?
