How to tell between PC and non PC Pachanoi? * 1
    #23720421 - 10/08/16 07:14 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Hey guys, got my first San Pedros from Home Depot when I happened upon them the other week. I've been browsing threads and have come upon the topic of PC versus non PC Pachanoi, and was wondering if any experts here can tell me what I have exactly.

Thanks so much for your help.

I was just about to make a thread like this. All I really know is that PC has a distinct appearance and "everything else" is non-pc. I'm not even sure it's a thing anyway. Why would a cactus lose its mescaline by being cloned repeatedly? Sounds like it was made up for marketing reasons.

when you at the rib the areoles point upward, having a sort of "sawtooth" look to them
there's almost never any notches above the areoles

there's millions of writeups about it and it gets posted here frequently

PC??  You obviously assume EVERYONE is aware of this abbreviation, acronym, whatever.

When I worked as a technical author it was a rule that you ALWAYS wrote out your abbreviations in full at the first occasion of use.  DO NOT EVER assume everyone knows what you mean.

PC - Politically Correct cacti???

I made a thread to test people's id skills. Only one person was a 100% correct, being ferrel_human. (Out of people's who commented)

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23576002/page/5

I think the slightly upward pointing spines is the biggest indicator.

And I think yours are PC, especially since you purchased from HD. They are still active, though.

No, it's not that the predominant cultivar is losing it's potency by being cloned repeatedly.
It's more that the original motherplant of all the todays' clones is/was of "low potency". Two feet should do the trick nicely.
Sure there are rare clones of other genes out there where one foot can be enough to trip, but who cares about a few inches..
The PC is a nice plant!

I just had my first cactus experience on a mix of mainly PC and a bit of bridge on the equinox. I was happy for a good 8 or so hours. Give it a good soil and good growing conditions and you'll be happy too.
