this is my 2nd grow and my first monotub. I started with a spore syringe and grew it out on agar. I used that for some rye spawn jars using RR's rye prep, then i spawned to a bulk coir/verm mix using the bucket tek in small mini tubs. then i took a clone of my best shroom grew that on agar and using the same teks again i now have this awesome tub. this was all done with info i found here on this site. So much thanks to all of you for sharing the knowledge.

Patching is also cool knowledge. Nextime, when the tub is still in the veg state you cover the whiter spots with more casing so the uncolonized spots turn white at the same time for more evenly aged shroomies.

Doesn't look like it. I would bet that he covered his spawn/coir/verm/etc with a small layer of coir/verm. We shall see!

i did not use a casing this time. i will be trying that next time around though to try and get my pin set to be a bit more even. there are mushies in the tub that are easily 3-4 days behind the first ones and i would like to get it to where most if not all of them are ready at the same time. Any thoughts on casing the tub for the 2nd flush? is it a good idea or bad one?

Was wondering about that myself, is it genetics or environmental conditions that contribute to more consistent growth? Or both?

Patching a tub sometimes work if its unhealthy tub. But your tub looks great. Casting on 2 flush is a bad idea.

Both.
A cloned grow with poor conditions can grow unevenly....sure.
Grows made from MS will do what they want.
Tubs that have fruiting conditions applied during spawn run can also have uneven flushing patterns, with the advantage being faster colonization>pin time.
Pasty has claimed to have pins extremely quickly while fruiting during spawning. Like 6 days or something if I'm not mistaken. I've personally had tubs at 100% colonization in 6 days and pins on day 8.
Anywho, that's a bit off topic... Hope the above helps!

I would say both. Sometimes a healthy MS grow will go good, but theres nothing like a good clone. It has proven itself
I would keep a culture slanted and do 5 more of those tubs.

took this right before i picked them. i could not find an easy way to pick them out, the cluster's where real dense and few caps got busted up in the harvesting.

i think it may have been to wet in the tub but i am not sure. it rained inside there a few time's, the surface always glistened with water droplets. I wasn't sure if it was ready to fruit, some area's seemed to be whiter then others but i had seen zero change in it for a few days. i figured it might be ready so i started fae seen the first pin some where around 6-8 days into fruiting. i left my 2nd tub go for a week longer just to be on the safe side in case this one was indeed not ready.
