I had to go away for a few days and upon arrival, my shroom caps have turned blue :/ I trashed the dark blue ones, but the ones that are still white and have a hint of blue coming from underneath I kept. I'm not sure why they keep trying to turn blue! I will post pictures soon.

Albinos, especially ape, tend to develop a blue hue after a while.
Are they small and gangly looking, aborts, or do they look like normal sized fruits?
If it is the latter, you probably shouldn't have tossed em, but no way to be sure what the issue is till you post pics.
Also, I'm shocked your name hadn't been taken already

I am also shocked that the name is still available...hehe
Sounds to me like you might have just trashed some good fungus.
We don't know until you post pictures though...

I'd say, it's extremely unlikely you had anything that needed to be thrown away vs consumed.
Sad reality. I've only ever seen a handful of times people say to throw shrooms away. Very extreme circumstances. Crazy molds growing on the mushrooms, verticillium. Etc.
I bet 1,000 dollars your mushrooms were fine. If the trash is still near by, get them out and keep them. Blue bruising is IMO the number one common trait of cubensis mushrooms, and albinos and PE as others said bruise more than regular cubes it seems. Sucks man

It's the only strain I am growing I already trashed some of my dark blue ones, I probably trashed some that were fine. It's alright tho, I made more cakes with ziploc bags.

I have been told that verticillium is okay to consume - especially if dried correctly...
Was I wrongly educated?

Okay to consume, sure.
But anyone on here who's reputable will say to just chuck them and grow more.
They won't hurt you. But they are very much for sure infected, so why eat if you don't have to.
But not at all minsinformed. Eat away, you'll be fine. Along with a lot of molds on your mushrooms. Most won't hurt you. But again, why not just eat ones that don't have molds or diseases

Dry af. Bad conditions there. What is this chamber? Did you mist?
Nvm read the OP better and saw you went out of town. Still doesn't look like a conventional FC

as mentioned, most actives bruise blue as a distinguishing feature. sub-optimal conditions can lead to cracking and other bruising triggers, and it shows up really prominently on albino/leucistic races. its a pretty common assertion that the ones that bruise most readily to be the most potent!
also curious what the fruiting chamber and conditions were like

Wasn't it concluded that the bruising is probably from something similar to variegatic acid in boletes?

The bruising is oxidation of the psilocin I believe.

It's a pigment. How would 5mg per 10g of fruit body cause an entire fruit body go dark blue?
And in a substrate it's down to micrograms of it. How would that cause heavy substrate bruising?
