I had my first chanterelles the other day. My dad cooked them and they were actually incredible. So nice find. I never find them because they don't grow in the cities....do they? Isn't it kind of something people go to the forest for?

They come in all shapes and sizes! Sometimes the material they are growing through shape them, other times frost or drought cause odd growth through the top. They're quite adaptable to what's going on around them, awesome mushroom!

Your salamander is a rough skinned newt Taricha granulosa
They are very poisonous when consumed and are responsible for deaths here around the PNW.

Do you folks harvest turkey tail?
I know someone here drinks it in a tea and also smokes it with scotchbroom flowers as an old ritual.

Nope. My faith in herbal/natural remedies has been brought down to around zero after quite a few negative experiences with naturopaths.
I do enjoy eating mushrooms though!

this book I have on the medicinal properties of Shiitake will give you faith again. Its all based on science.it kinda blew my mind..also, I feel you about naturalpaths... it can be helpful(and straight up healing), but not if they deterr one to get proper treatment by promising unpromise-able results.
