Ok guys i have been trying to get a white jar for months, i have a PC and liquid paid for spores that are legit. ALL my jars turn a spiderweb gray and all look like this pic im going to try and post. This jar is like over a month old.
Before it wouldfill with shitty green mold but now just Lack of white.

Oyster mushrooms. On popcorn, pressure cooked And jarred with a half inch hole in the lid. Sergical mask cut and permitexd to the lid around hole. Another hole was made for injecton then i also permitex over that.
Jar is showing a light hair in some places and looks like white powder in other. Dont appear to be contamed just not growing well. At all
I was told not much air can get though the mask withthe lid hole only half inch wide ive made 2 new jars with the whole top of the lid made from mask.
Still working on pictures, seems hard to do on this site from a tablet

Pics are in the top left hand corner right under your name. Then choose files.
Skip the spores and get a culture. You'll have proven fruiting genetics and still have the enjoyment of expanding it up on grain or popcorn or whatever. Not sure how much experience you have but what you're doing sounds a bit shaky. You probably have some other molds in there...gray is like botrytis (grows on fruit and bud) or rhizopus if I recall...do you see black specks? Pics would help.

Trying to post a pick now. Yes it was the specs with cobwebs and some green. Im useing a spore syrenge from ecty its clear liquid with little flakes of shit inside.
What do u suggest i change. Are u saying buy a bag of pre colonized stuff? Im not looking to eat once, but market. Long term im new at this field and ive failed about 50 jars so far with none successful
So i wont question you about canning my entire method if you have a better one.

The specks are spores or spore bearing structures call sporangia that the mold is producing. Green is never good. Starting from spores is a long drawn out process and would be best to do on agar. A culture will allow you to produce mushrooms indefinitely with a little bit of knowhow and like I said above, will be guaranteed to fruit.

So what is a culture. the syrenge i got was listed as " liquid culture"
is it done diffrently then? I have no idea what im doing right now besides what i have been told. Inject into sterilizeed jars then Put into bags of straw.

Ok, the jar with the hole looks like it should work. Not sure about the surgical mask. If pores are to large it can let contaminates into the jar. Tyvek works as well as polyfill ( synthetic pillow stuffing). The grains needs to be really hydrated but no real visible moisture in the jar. Liquid culture is what MyColorado is talking about and is what you have. Assuming the culture is not contaminated, you have to squirt 1 cc into the jar.i would put half cc on one side and half on opposite side against the glass so you can see it. Mycelium of oysters when it grows reminds me of frost on a window, anything else is likely contam. You will have to use sterile procedure when injecting. This is a process where it is very easy to contaminate .Most work inside a box ( still air box ).

I just held my breath in, took the needle cap off, flicked with lighter. And injected into the silicone blob, then smeared more jtv over the pearceing
The jars had fully cooled. I didnt see any growth of any kind for almost 2 weeks. Then a bunch of weird offwhite and pure white color mix. So again i tossed it,
Is 100% humidity a Problem when growinv oysters?

I have purchased cultures that were contaminated. You really can't tell much by just looking at the syringe. No humidity is not a problem. Grain should be loose and not appear wet after sterilized.

Its not the cult. Ive got it from several doffrent People. The more i work the better it looks. I think my other jar dried out.
The new ones are frosting at the bottem and a line down the side. Much faster. And i soaked this grain for twice as long. And its baby popcorn the other was large grain. Was rock hard and powdery coming out of the jar.
So. Water content. The goal is to max the moisture inside the grain? But have it dry outside?
The new jars had a little water at the bottem. But the mycilum seems to have consumed it.

How much reading on the subject have you done? Have you looked into other types of seed or grain like wbs or rye? Popcorn might not be the best choice. I'm also curious what you're planning on doing when you do get a colonized jar?

A shit load of reading. Its all mixed up answers I watched indians makeing them in africa on a documentery about fighting starvation no suit nobox no pressure cooker. A old barrel and some crappy bellows then hanging them outside under shaded shacks
Then ive seen the full hvac dude spamming alcohol with 5000.00 lab.
So ive actually read to much and have no understanding of how easy they are ruined. Besides me fucking like 50 up.
I started with rye and a 5gallon pot frackjing them Working my way to popcorn and.pressure cookers even switched needles 2 or 3 times no luck.
Im going to buy a pre serialized jar so i at least know what im looking for after it works. Hopefully.
Ive not planned the fŕuit stage. Still focused on this part

So ,last jar failed? How do you know? Did it turn colors? You said it was colonising. Some environments are very unforgiving. Last week in IL the mold count was 12000. Super easy to contaminate verses someone in the southwest dry air. I open air spawn oyster substrate. But take every precaution using agar and inoculating grains.

you saw indians making them in africa huh, East Indians? fighting starvation? i'm confused. I have lived in Ghana and mushrooms are produced with low tek methods, there are 55 gallon drum sterilizers for the sawdust. there are no pressure cookers because they buy their spawn from labs in the capital.
anyways, liquid culture can take some time to show up on grain, should go straight to agar, then agar to grain. that could help. also changing your grain choice.

Didnt mean to offend anyone. I seen some dark colord people like u Said. Makeing them with barely nothing. No idea where it was at. A Africa looking place Dry clay looking environment with few big trees. And the dude was translating about mushroom is a Substainable food for cheap.
Anyway. i see white. But its quit growing.
They always seem to stsrt to colinise and stall This one has a 1inch filter hole plenty of air About 2 inches of the jar at bottem is white. But has milk white patches in it

What's the temperature where the jars are? Could be too hot or cold for the mycelium to grow (this is probably not the problem).
Also, try boiling your grain or popcorn or whatever for 20min or so. This should hydrate it without the individual grains exploding. If they explode they stick together too much. Drain and load jars then PC for 90 minutes. Once they have cooled to room temp you can inoculate. Make sure you're flaming your needle until red-hot and allowing to cool by expelling some liquid. If you make a still-air-box out of a tub flipped over with a hole cut in it you'll be able to inoculate without as much fear of airborne contaminants falling into your work....open the jar...unscrew and crack open lid to squirt some culture in without touching the sides or lid with needle. Close and be done.
Here's a whole thread on prepping popcorn: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23728451/gonew/1#UNREAD
