Hello, Just saying hello and will be reading Im sure lots of info here, and possibly asking some questions as I just started my first grow 9 days ago. They are Golden Teacher strain. Currently they are inside a giant Tupperware, inside a medium size cardboard box that is behind my computer with my modem inside and holes cut out for the few wires powering the router/modem. This was used to keep it a bit warmer inside.
I have been using a combo of guides/info that I have read here, but modified it slightly because of what I had. I thought it may be interesting to post here as I don't see it being mentioned often, but the mix was 3 parts vermiculite, 1 part rye seed, and 1 part pre soaked poppy seeds,
The mix was then sterilized inside the ball jars that had been prepped with holes in the lids, and then covered with aluminum foil caps.
I then used a lighter to heat the needle on the spore syringe to inject down inside the jars, I used 3 needles for 6 of the 8oz half pint ball canning jars.
So far everything seems to be going as planned tho It was 3 days ago I checked, that's the first question. Should I check?
Ill try to upload some photos, if I open them back up to check, as I did not take any the other day.

Uh, okay.... 65-75F is perfect temperature, so that modem thing you're doing should probably stop. I don't know what you're even talking about with this verm, rye, poppy business, that's not going to work well as a cake recipe. Why 3 needles? One syringe should make 10 jars.

Ok. I read 80-86f was the best temp for growth?
Also probably did not explain the usage of needles/syringes well enough, please forgive English is not first language (Japanese).
And why will it not work? It is already working.....

One i can only see a picture of a box on the off site. Please post the pictures here. Two rye grains and poppy seeds work like grain spawn and have to be fixed that way. Cakes work with spores syringes because most flours have anti fugus chemicals on them that kinda of help with trich. Ive made poppy seeds spawn before it grumps together like ice. Did you pressure cook this cakes or steam them?

80-86F is an old figure that was common in books ~30 years ago. People realized, over time, that bacteria preferred those temps much more than mushroom mycelium ever did. The 65-75F range gives cubensis a competitive advantage over other organisms, and that's more important than a theoretical increase in colonization speed. I say theoretical because it has been stated since then, that growth speed actually plateaus around 80F and starts dropping around 83F, and even then, we're talking about less than 5% difference. Most would prefer cleaner growth at 95% speed than unhealthy growth at 100% speed.
Furthermore.. your substrate temperature is 2-5F hotter than the surrounding air. So if you have it at 85F then they could be as hot as 90F. 90F is the range where a lot of really unpleasant things like to grow really fast. And cubensis colonization speed suffers as well, so the problems become multiplicative.

ok I have followed that advice, and removed the router/modem and place the box in a part of the room that should average 75f all day. For lighting I was using one of these style click light for about 1 hour daily so far. Do I need to continue that, increase/decrease, etc. Yes I have 3 syringes left, I used half of what I had purchased. They are all Golden Teacher.
Thanks

These would be much better lights. 12/12 is the schedule that benefits them most. May be best to get a timer to plug the light in through.

Yea that jar does look good at all very bacterial things going on in there. Good news is you have a pc, you have jars so when this grow is done you can do grain spawn next. As well as start so agar plates now with spores. By the time this grow is done you be better off next time. If you still want to try cakes next go round the clean cultures will still be good

Since I now know I am doing more of a grain spawn, should I attempt to shake the jars like I have read?
