I found a few p. cyanescens on the peninsula at a recurring patch that have been previously confirmed by Mr. Rockefeller. However, recently I found these, which I had never seen before. Assuming a black/purple spore print, I think they are p. allenii. Identification opinions? Thanks.

Thanks, David! I'm impressed by how most of them are twice the size of the p. cyanescens I've seen around here. Beautiful mushroom for sure!

Some fine looking P. allenii from this morning here in the North Bay area. So fine in fact, I had to put a couple full size shots up.

Hey outmybody - that's exactly where you will find them - allenii, cyanescens & ovoids - all lurk in landscaped beds strewn with wood chips around people's houses, businesses, etc.
Keep searching - you'll find them.

I was on my way to work this AM and spotted some legit grounds in front of a new housing development. Can't wait to check it tomorrow!

I remember that too my friend.
That patch was a great producer for a couple years. Then last year, someone else found it too. They ripped up everything, including the smallest pins. This year, its dead. Nothing *yet* - I have hope it might fruit as the season progresses...
Good luck this year!

I've been lurking for two years and this is my first post, so thank you to everyone whose posts have taught me at least enough to attempt hunting.
I took the below pictures yesterday in the North Bay area. Not sure if picture two is two different species or just a mature specimen. Picture 4 was taken 10 ft away from the other 3 but could still be the same species. They unfortunately do not bruise blue (I didnt pick the baby in pic 4). Spore print on the darker mush is dark brown--any IDeas? (my guess is Leratiomyces ceres). I have infinite questions but I'll start with just one: Does seeing these mushrooms mean this particular woodchip bed wont contain any Psilocybes because it's been colonized by a different spec.? Or could it fruit Psilocybes a little later in the season?
Edit: Added an ID guess

You did find something similar to one of the species in his first picture. His first picture has two species though, and the only allenii are the 2 small ones on bottom left.

Thanks for the response Ran-D is it safe to say this could be an area that I should regularly check?

Does it have wood chips? Remember what sort of habitat you should be looking in.

Its kind of hard to tell that it does have wood chips in the grass if you look where i lay them down to take a picture of the gills there are some wood chips near by. Thanks for your helpful post though.

Hey David...what exactly is a Tubaria?? A little mushroom that has stunted in growth?
