Nice finds everyone -
A few from today in the North Bay. I can't find a cyan around here to save my life this year, but plenty of Ps. Allenii about.

sythetic- the photos in this thread are indicative of what habitats they like. Those visuals are the best hint. When you see an area that looks promising, slow down & look carefully...you'll find them

These threads are how I learned. Just study and hunt that's it. Getting out is the key though.

Study the habitats in which people found them.. looking at the mushrooms helps for identifying them but if you don't know the proper environs then you'll have a lower success rate.

i swear by this method for low maintenance bulk spawning. i just moved my spawn pots to bigger pots and the growth is amazing.
went out hunting a couple days ago, allenii and cyan are drying up but a spot that i and jayz suspect is azure are still coming up.
to the guy who was asking for info on how to hunt better, go check the same spots weekly, never think you've got your area mapped out because you will always miss some spots and you may come across a rare species for your area and that's always awesome

I think I may have been too premature to declare this season over. I checked on a couple of known spots around my office and found two spots including one allenii specimen that was huge.

synthetik, if you want to get more strategic about hunting try Neosporen's google earth video on scouting habitats. It got me off to a good start last year, and since then I plan and map pretty much all of my forays with google earth and maps. It also makes me feel better when I hunt and find great habitats but no actives because at least I can add to my map a good possibility to come back to and potentially a place to spread spawn.

Synthetic....It may take you 50 or more hours of searching habitats to find your first spot but once you start finding them, you'll get more tuned in and find them with greater and greater ease. Anytime you pass habitat look at it, as you go about your day. During the season, look at woodchips evrywhere you go. The first patch of cyans i found was in a friends yard in seattle when i was in high school 30 yrs ago. The next patches i found were along my route walking to community college a couple years later. Over time, you tune into them. Every season you get more and more succesful. Its a long term relationship. By the time i moved away from seattle 6 yrs ago, i was harvesting 5 to 10 dried pounds every season... The more time you put in, the faster you will improve your skills.

Cyans found last night at a spot I was pretty sure was done for the season. This is the 3rd flush I've found there this year...definitely worth re-checking old spots this weekend!
