Allenii are the strongest.
sounds like a poll is in order. I wouldn't know, But interested. Although, so many variables to ones experience, would make it hard to establish any real facts. IMO.

Yea a poll is totally useless. I didn't base that statement on personal experience.

We're definitely not done yet!

Left most of these in the ground so they can benefit from what the weather channel is calling an 'atmospheric river' about to dump on CA over the weekend.
synthetic- wherever you found those 3, go back & look again. I'd wager there is a few more waiting.

Tomorrow's rain would have turned these rotten! Glad to have gotten them in time.

Will be making some spore prints for possible agar culture. Moved some clone tissue onto some freshly prepared agar jars. First timer. Wish me luck. I am doing a side-by-side of stem butt container vs clone agar->grain->woodchip (hopefully anyway) container.
Also hope to spread these things around. Feeling blessed.

Good Luck, maoz!
Last winter i did clone tissue agar > grain > pet bedding (birch) > mixed with relatively fresh chips from the park, and I've got several gallons of healthy, naturalized mycelium on my patio now. The process was pretty easy, & colonization went fast! Going to bump it up to a 25lb burlap bag of chips this week & start spreading the joy this spring after it fully colonizes.
I also did stem butts on cardboard, but the moisture was too high in my container and they rotted after an initially successful spread. Even though the agar & grain route is more work, it was worth the effort for the results in my experience

My usual patches are still producing a little. Let's see if the upcoming rain can keep the the season going. I hope Sirtalis is correct with the last flush prediction.

There's always a really massive final flush to any season, I've noticed. Even this new "spring season" we get coz of ovoids. It'll die down then soon one last go at it before it "goes to sleep". I've noticed some patches do it and others don't. Remember which ones do this, just like how it's important to keep note of when they begin fruiting. There's a wide swath of area between far north of Westport WA down toward Depoe Bay Oregon, and so long as the weather isn't too different, it seems one give it one last go and you'll find very potent mushrooms. Just a field observation of ps cyans. It's when you start finding really nice ones wondering why nobody's picked them and they're in such good shape.. Still forage of course but yeah like a week or two after "the end", it seems some patches will just explode with whatever they got left in them. Hope this helps.

1 short fat ps. Allennii and 1 tall skinny ps. Cyanescen??

Also we're getting a week of rain out here in the Bay, when would the optimal time be to go out and pick in terms of finding big fat mature mushies? During, directly after, or a few days after the rain?

I believe the best answer to this is yes.

Did your spawn patch fruit this year?
Patiently waiting for agar to show mycelium.
Found 4 mushrooms today. Not much, but so worth it.

Good read, thanks. Don't remember ever hearing of the floods of 1861-62. Scary shit. Shroomerites floating around in sterilites is the image coming to my mind. But yes, really scary shit.
