My friend and I found this spot a month ago. He lives closer so he went to check on it to see if anything new popped after the rain. Apparently this spot is flushing multiple time this season, and looks like it more to come. (pins everywhere still  This spot is CRAZY. I assume another haul of equal size.

Yea,  I watched the best park in town get stomped to shit early in the season.  I Met the new hunter who does not post. He was dragging an uninterested noob through new territory showing him the park that you and I had first met.  He bragged about getting into the hard to reach areas of the park down the road; and gestured towards his muddy boots, with an air of dipshit pleasure.  I bit my tongue.

This guy trampled and destroyed the newest patch and removed every last pin before the season really started.  I never returned and focused on new habitat so as not to become enraged witnessing our most prolific park trampled and stripped to nubs.

A train ride south is not a bad idea.

So aggravating! FunGal and I just keep coming back to the same final thoughts on it; How can so many people with the same passion for fungi as us and the handful of fun, amazingly intelligent, fantastic people we've had the privilege of meeting over the last 8-9 years be so careless as to destroy one of the most beautiful and thought-invoking aspects of mycology?  Not good feels  :crying:  Not good feels at all  :cryariver:

But anywho, before I start another rant, let's do it HH, can't you hear them calling?! We've got a decent sized camper now, sleeps 6, bathroom w/ shower, heat/ac…..ehhhhhh? EHHH?!

Whoever you found those, look at the same spot, but with more diligence.
Dollars to dollars you will find more.

Made a big haul today. One dehydrator full with cyans, the other 3/4 full of monster Allenii.

Pics of this and yesterday's new finds, after I resize the 6-8 mb photos.

Hey, you guys pulling down big fruitings (and who are presumably covered in spores) should come out of the bay occasionally and walk around the Diablo Valley (Concord to Pleasanton). There's lots of prime habitats, but actual occurrences of active species are few and far between.

Come on, you know the Shroom wants you to spread the Understanding.

Totally agree. The Diablo Valley isn't represented enough on this thread. I have mapped out tons of habitats that would be perfect and they're all barren. Even the finds I come across in the area are usually puny in comparison to the massive hauls people are bringing in from other counties (or compared to the PNW thread). Two of my Diablo Valley patches didn't produce a single fruit this whole season... Kinda sad. :frown:

With that being said, here are some that flushed from the last rain.

I wonder, are there subspecies of cyanescens? Some of the pics I've seen in this thread are pretty massive. I've only ever found tiny guys (1-2 cm common, 3-4 cm uncommon).

Found this little patch and then about 10 feet from it was about 100 more of these:

Looked so delicious I had to pick them but I don't think they're active?

No  signs of any bluish bruising, any opinions and I apologize for being such a noob but I'm learning more and more, I love this msg board!

What say you guys?

Kind regards,

droope

Not active if they had been people would politely ask that you snip the mushroom and allow the patch to grow.  Also you gotta make a proper I.D. Thread

Looks to be Hypholoma fasciculare

They grow in similar habitats, so you're on the right track, but keep looking.

Yesterday's haul was sexy. This year the spot has been producing significantly more than last year I don't know if the conditions have been better or maybe I have had a positive impact on the patches compared to the damage I might have done last year for my lack of knowledge he sting pins and immature fruits.

This one is the heaviest I've found to the date weighted around 22g fresh
