It's certainly been tending towards it. Could've used your help eradicating the nastiness earlier instead of a self-serving one-liner after the fact.

I hear ya'. Back in the day, I thought that Auwela vs Tahoe was bad, but this thread has reached next level clustfuckery.

For real...
I was going to say...Pretty sure I've been "spoken to", or have had posts edited/deleted by mods in past year's "bay area official actives" threads just because I was talking about about the weather/rain in a post...I think I remember some mods were serious about keeping any discussion about rain or the weather out of these threads, yet all this non-sense and bickering is OK ?

Seriously, I've been asking for the last two or three pages. I'm guessing that any azure out of wood chips will be much more potent because of the amount of food available.

Please do! Then we can all ignore david and have a civil community. Kind of like how it was prior to him hijacking and poisoning this community. I don't mean to fan the flame(s) but it's difficult to stay silent on this as it affects so many of us. Look forward to putting this behind us.

Afrogus - And please stay out. You're pretty much the laziest, meanest, and most jealous hunter here. I mean, what kind of person sits around bitching, moaning, and complaining for two seasons straight and then turns on another hunter because he's successful. Certainly not a good person.

Ugghh... This has turned quite interesting... I'm not one to take sides so I'll continue posting here just on the principle that my other posts are already on this thread.
I discovered a new patch, and returned to an old one.
The old one: I apologize in advance for the terrible photo quality. (You all know how dim light and cellphone cameras love each other.) This patch is located in the courtyard of a business that is locked and gated. I had harvested this one last year in November, but I no longer have access to this area. Pictured are a bunch of small shriveled up Psilocybe cyanescens.
This is the same patch as above, photographed last year (included for the sake of the above blur). This was my only new find last year. (This year I'm up to 6 new finds. Woohoo!)

The new one: This find was quite a test of courage to harvest because it was in an area where I was in the field of view of guessing 100 people and frequently patrolled by police... I walked past it a couple times to scout it out, then just went for it. As I left, I passed two squad cars coincidentally near it. My timing was pretty ideal.

And I've got a few little confrontation stories...
A couple of weeks ago I was harvesting a patch at midnight with a flashlight and a squad car pulled up to me. I was a little startled, but I turned off my flashlight, stood straight up, looked the officer straight in the eye for a brief moment, and then walked away. That was it. Got my heart pumping a bit, but I kept my cool. The officer left in the other direction.
Today, I revisited a patch to find nothing more than a dozen small mushies (not worth picking IMO) and a couple medium sized ones. This patch is in a very public place, and things have been a madhouse lately with all the Christmas shopping. I lean down to pick the medium sized ones and a black dude stops me and asks, "Hey, are those the good ones? You aren't going to eat those shrooms, are you?" He got really excited and I could instantly tell he thought I was picking magic mushrooms and asked me questions about it. I just brushed him off and told him I don't know what they are but I'm curious to figure out and then walked away. (Wouldn't that be a fun coincidence to causally pick some mushrooms for identification and end up finding magic ones?)
Yesterday was the weirdest confrontation I've ever had, not just in shroom hunting, but in my life. I drive up to a strip mall to check out their planters. I park in the back of the lot, and start walking the perimeter. Unknown to me at the time, but a guy who I parked near was WATCHING me the whole time.
I finish up scouting the lot, and walk back to my car, and the guy who was watching me approaches me. He says, "I noticed you were looking for something, is there something I can do to help? I saw you walk from there, to there, to there, looking in the bushes." I tell him, "I'm not looking for anything in particular, but sometimes you can be surprised by the stuff just laying around". He doesn't buy that answer, and he mentions that his niece likes to get together in groups of people and go hunting around random areas... I get very suspicious that he knows that I was looking for shrooms, but the more details he gives, I realize he is describing geocache. He asks, "Is that what you were doing?" I reply "no", and gesture towards my car.
He interrupts me and goes on to ask me, "Then what is your QUEST?! Everybody has a QUEST!" Intrigued, I reply, "in what sort of sense are you talking about?" Turns out this guy is a total whack job, 60-somethings year old drunk. Not only that, but he has a huge bushy white beard and is dressed somewhat like Santa. He says he'll grant me one Christmas wish... blah blah blah. I ask him for rain. This guy is nuts. Realizing my initial reservedness when he first approached me, he comes up to me, gives me a hand shake and then a big hug (he smelled like he just pounded a 6 pack), and then rambles on for an hour about god, religion, work, how he hates the millennial attitude, about our ultimate purpose in the universe, about how I need to be more open to strangers and share my "love" (in the sense of unconditional good-ness) with them. He said, start being more open with friends and family, but then open yourself up to strangers as well. Oh my god. He was entertaining, so I showed him some respect by staying to listen and because I wanted to diffuse his suspicions about me roaming around a parking lot, but man... [I'm cutting out a lot of details because most of what he was saying was nonsensical, and doesn't exactly make for a good story]
One interesting tangent was that he threw the cellphone of a millennial he hired in a lake and fired him when he heard it ring because he told his crew "no cellphones on the job" (they belonged on the dashboard of his truck while they were working), and he went on to laugh saying he could only imagine the conversation this kid was going to have with his girlfriend, about how he lost his job for lying to his supervisor!
Another interesting detail was how he said his wife went dumpster diving and got a bunch of tossed whole tilapia carcasses from an Asian market, dried them in the sun and with a hair dryer, and then sewed them into a dress adorned with fish skeletons.
If I meet a long-talking hippie like that in a parking lot, as soon as I hear the phrase "what is your QUEST?!?" I know to run. Never again.

There is a coming rain on the 9th. Don't pick too much too soon guys.
Also, you shouldn't be fearful of showing an enthusiasm for rare fungi you like to collect you know?
Humans are fascinated by them. Everyone. It's that little mystery in people's eyes still.

Nah they won't rot. Until they get too big. I like to wait for the first of them to mature to full size, go harvest the biggest wettest logged ones, leave all other sizes. Return the day after next, pick the biggies. Repeat cycle until all the patch has grown up. Days after rain are high in humidity. And humidity is just as good as rain for mushroom growth.
