That's some really good info on dosage.  It's going to be interesting giving out wood lovers to friends and having to tell them to take 1/4 of what they normally do.  I feel like if someone told me that I'd be like "yea sure everyone says their shrooms are the strongest". I'll probably mention the species name and to do a Google search on their potency to emphasize my point to not go overboard.....

I know how that goes all too well, I pretty much say the exact same thing every time I give some to someone that isn't familiar with allenii or cyans.....I personally find both cyans and allenii to consistently be at least twice as potent as your average cube, as much as three times the potency (I've had 1g of cyans or allenii feel comparable to a full 1/8th of cubes on more than one occasion).

I thoroughly enjoy handing out and gifting my fruits to friends, and random folks I cross paths with at festivals & what not.....

....I always go on about telling them that these are rather potent and aren't your typical "gold caps". I usually start off with saying, "Now I know everyone always says 'These mushrooms are really strong', every one always goes on about how they have some potent mushrooms, but I'm not joking, these are a different species than what's typically bought from "dealers" and considerably more potent"

I've said those words countless times....one of the times I was giving 4g to a friend of a friend, and gave him the whole speech about them being potent and to start off with no more than a gram...Long story short, dude ended up in golden gate park completely out of his gourd freaking out to the max trying to call his parents to come and pick him up (he lived almost 100 miles from SF)....I tried telling him   .

Good to see you OpenMind!!!!  Like I may have mentioned before I've been lurking here for years but have found what you said to be very, very true.  There seems to be something about the diminutive appearance of dried allenii/cyanescens that throws people off, or they just don't believe that something local could be so incredibly powerful.

I strongly advise people (and actually make them do it themselves!) to weigh out their doses.  This practice seems to bring people down to reality and prevents people from going though the (likely???) embarrassing and scary experience that your friend went through.

Sometimes I think that the myth that Azures are the most potent mushroom has gotten many folks into trouble as I (and others here) believe that allenii is without question the most potent (and has the best storage-ability to boot) Psiocybin-containing mushroom out there...

Scales a must. I mix my cyans up at the end of each season so the potency is pretty consistent and then always weigh the same amount each time so i no what to expect. mess around and your legs will go out. Potent for sure. Just curious about the allenii thats why i ask.

We just had a significant temperature drop. Will this cause more fruiting in the east bay, and how long does that process take?

Dammit. This is the most interesting thing I've seen so far.

Waiting for more propitious environmental cues...

I suppose you mean the temperature drop at night...and yes, it might cause more patches to fruit. But what's more important is the sudden increase in nighttime humidity. Did you notice that everything was drenched this morning? The timeframe isn't so important...the Bay area is micro-climate land, patches start fruiting at all different times. Now's a good time to be hunting.

I'm noticing mushroom mycelium coming up to the surface of wood chips.  I've read it will come to the surface in the fall before fruiting and hide back in the spring to go expand or go dormant.  Good sign that patches are about to fruit or already have.

I saw about 40 mature Alleni fruits today in some known spots.  I was going to take photos but didn't have my phone.  But the majority of the spots are still too dry for much of anything.  But there were more mushrooms than last week, so that's a plus.

Beauties! You guys in the south always have nice looking mushrooms. I think it's probably due to less moisture, slugs and bugs.

they're def beauts as MJK said, and some are even partially dried for you already...love it when that happens.

David, look at the closeup of the gills on that big specimen playing king-of-the-pile...is one of those white flecks some sort of mycelial growth?  it looks like the RH white spec has some wispy growth onto/off of the gill surface; it's pretty interesting and something we've seen before i think.

what do you see in person (if you still have that one at hand)?  NBD if it's not handy or mixed in a giant pile by this point.

Went to pick up the last part of this humongous first flush of the season from my main spot. They were starting to dry up a little bit so I had to "save" them from their thirst. Love it when nature does me the favor of starting the drying process.
