After 21 months with no marijuana, I ate an indica edible last night

My friend gave me an indica marijuana cookie last week. I ate 1/4 of it at 830PM and 90 minutes later I wasn't feeling much so I ate another half and then about 130AM I VERY SUDDENLY felt an intense body high and fell asleep rapidly. I was weird how long it took to kick in. Anyway I woke up today feeling normal in some indescribable way for the first time in a very long time. I feel a calm but unfoggy focus, contentment, and motivation. I accomplished a lot more than I typically would on a day off. I don't even have the munchies. I decided I need to leave this sober living house I've been staying in for the last 18 months and move somewhere where I can start using these edibles without the threat of homelessness. I think I found somewhere to move and should be moving out in a couple of weeks. I feel like with a combination of HIIT, edibles, and increased sociability I may finally be able to quit using the antidepressant medication I've been addicted to for all these years. We'll see.

Yeah weed doesn't really do it as a maintenance drug IME. It's usually great the first time in a while, and for a bit after that, but if it isn't kept occasional it sorta loses its magic.
Good luck with your goals though. Nice when we catch a break sometimes and actually have a good day.

My experience is the same as yours, which is part of why I stopped in the first place. It wasn't fun anymore. I don't plan on ever becoming a daily user again.

Good for you. Weed gives me so much inspiration. If edibles were more available i would totally dose like 30mg instead of taking a couple bong tokes!

I felt a little caution as I read your text. I have felt similarly at times, given various types of "cures" but, as mentioned previously, I don't think you can count on one material thing for your joy.
What made you quit to begin with? How was sobriety? How long have you taken depression meds?

I remember when smoking weed used to be beneficial. I can't now because if I mix it with my psych meds I end up in the psychiatric unit. Smoke some for me guys..

I mostly quit weed last time because it started giving me panic attacks after a bad 25i trip. I can't really say I've been sober cuz I've been using psychedelics and kratom, but I quit that about a month ago. I've been taking antidepressants for almost 11 years.

Do you think the anti depressants contributed to the panic attacks?

Not to be a party pooper because I dont' care for antidepression meds, but make sure you do it in a strategic way and "under medical advice". Some of those will really fuck your noodle up as your body gets used to not having it.
I am pleased you got to enjoy yourself and had a great day. Hope many more are coming at you.

Weed was a great Maintenon drug for me for a long time, like 9 years. But it's not much different than other short acting drugs. It takes a lot and there is some tolerance to quality. I don't think an 1/8 of good weed and a chunk of hash would get old. But I haven't been able to explore that habit/need in my new level of operating. Sometimes symptoms you wish to treat are stronger than the treatment of choice. I'd rather be lost tho in a world of strains than a world of medication.

I would say that weed is pretty unique, and not really what I'd call a short acting drug.

It's initial actions are short. 3 to 4 hours is not long. For me it's all psychological dependence and similar to withdrawal after that.

Epinephrine is a short acting drug. Cocaine is a short acting drug. Maybe even fentanyl. Weed is not.

La di da. Hours is short, days and weeks is not. Drugs have after effects and some go on and on. Oh the mysteries of consciousness.

The psychological withdrawal of tobacco is 9 months. I say the withdrawal, if you ever plan on dealing with that, is long term. It's all cause and effect.

So pretty much there are no recreational long acting drugs other than maybe mescaline?

It is about total cost, psychological toll. I know too that sobriety has a price to pay. If we kne the end game and how we lived life and how it affects death we would be better off. What matters is how it goes and how it ends. That is why it's easier to keep using with a lot of mellowed drugs.
Acute intoxication is short acting, negative effects like withdrawal are seriously long term. With a billion other specifics I can't think to mention.
