 The 10 most important contributions throughout time

I'd like to know what every person here thinks are the 10 most important contributions to society throughout time. Be somewhat specific, that is, say "integrated circuitry" rather than "science" :-) After I've gotten a page or so of answers, I'll show you the PA&L tie to it. Thanks alot!

I'm guessing that this is going to become yet another racist threads about black Africans not contributing anything(which I imagine would have to do with their relative isolation from Western society for so long). But what do you mean by "contributions to society"? Is it only a contribution if it has a positive impact, or could it have a negative impact as well, such as nuclear weapons?
Anyway, being a musician myself, I'll go ahead and say syncopated beats, a musical innovation from Africa which later on influenced Jazz music, and in turn went on to influence Blues, Rock 'n Roll, Hip-hop, and several other forms of popular music today.

oooh you're so contraversial! 
Nuclear power as a whole has contributed alot to society but I dont see how the atom bomb has contributed anything other than pain for those it has been inflicted upon and a sense of fear and paranoia for those who have lived in its shadow.
On the other hand without it as a deterrent, whose to say what kind of wars would have took place in the last 60 years?

I'm guessing that Inny is interpreting "contributions" based on their influence on society, not whether that influence is positive or negative. I'd have to agree that the atomic bomb has had a serious influence over the course of history, especially the 20th Century. The Cold War might never have happened the way it did if not for nuclear weapons.

Actually, my answer wasn't Jazz music. It was a specific musical innovation(syncopated beats) which can be heard throughout popular music today, and thus has had an extensive influence over pop culture. Would you or would you not consider music to be a part of society. And as far as it being more or less important than the smallpox vaccine, how do you measure importance? Syncopated beats have had a widespread influence over the musical landscape that makes up popular music today, and are probably just as important of a contribution to music as the smallpox vaccine is to medicine. But I didn't mean to list it as one of the top 10. I just wanted to throw that out there because I knew where you were going with this thread, and wanted to show you a significant contribution made by people who you don't think made any significant contributions. Anyway, my top 10:
fire(invented by "niggers")
agriculture(developed independently in several parts of the world)
writing(same as above)
math(same)
the wheel(invented by "sand niggers")
the scientific process(concieved of during the Age of Enlightenment)
due process(I believe this slowly developed among different cultures in contact with each other)
the constitution(I think America had the first one, if you don't count the Magna Carta)
mass production(developed by Nazi-sympathizer Henry Ford)
the internet(invented by Al Gore  )
