Being here now * 3
    #23708257 - 10/04/16 09:31 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

All one can really say is that I am here, it is now, and there is change.  Can we ever be really sure of anything else?

Other than the fact that we're both one day going to die, no, I don't think so.

--------------------
Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

There is only Turiya.

The world is an abode of pure jnana.

Turiya is a state beyond the coming and going of the body, and is directly experienced as such - fear of death or harm are gone and only common sense strays one away from them, instead.

The world is the psyche's present state, it is little else, except for obvious objects and obstructions.

Achieve Turiya and one exists endlessly in a world of magic. Literally. The world is made of God, God is a magical, sacred entity.

Our age has educated us out of belief in the sacred, divine or magical.

It's all still there . . .

By the way you are an eternal divinity inhabiting a present form.

As I've said plenty of times, "The trip is that you're always you."

do you feel this equally applies to those who exhibit clear and distinct multiple-personalities?

when 'you' is a combination of mental, physical, and a plethora of organisms within, how can it be accurately defined as a static 'object?'

Yep, because the 'object' of a human being experiences both sensations and thoughts.

so your logic follows as one brain, one body, one "you", regardless of the programs running or other biological activities occurring within it?

let's transfer this to an ant and a specimen of cordyceps.  when the cordyceps intrudes the brain and takes over control, would that still be the ant acting, experiencing, sensing, or is it the fungus?

Not quite, I think humans are unique in experiencing both sensations and thoughts.

I think non-sentient organisms only experience sensations.

Following this logic the ant is acting on sensation provided by the infection of cordyceps.

back to humans, what about rabies?  if a human is infected by the rabies virus, do you perceive that as the human acting on sensation provided by the rabies virus?

Yeah, seeing as the rabies virus directly effects the brain it makes sense.
By infecting the nervous system the virus can influence the sensations experienced by an organism.

so if the human 'programs' are no longer running, is it the human experiencing the sensations, the virus?

That's where it gets fuzzy, I don't know what brain damage could result in.
Different parts of the brain have different functions so it depends on where the brain is damaged.

If parts of the brain that govern sensation are damaged then the human may no longer experience sensation, that's not to say they can't experience thought though and Stephen Hawking is a good example of that.

In the case of rabies it is.

I don't think it is about saying anything, this is about immediacy, contact, and the essence of consciousness.
You don't need to be sure about it, being sure is extra.

I'm just putting my thoughts out there.
The phrase 'essence of consciousness' does not sound correct to me.

Because I believe existence precedes essence it follows under my logic that consciousness is existence and essence is conscience/morality and the ability to determine good and bad.

I've been feeling this way so confidently at the peak of my recent trips, but the day after, when I'm completely back to baseline, I intuitively always return to "Deep down we all have no idea what's going on, and what happens after we die." What to make of this repetitive change of perspective? Exactly what DQ is alluding to... Just be here now, and act on whatever seems to be the case wherever and whenever you are. If that changes, then roll with it.
