PNW: ID Request

Yesterday was my second attempt at hunting for psilocybins. Mostly looking for potential spots along the PNW coasts (OR & WA). After spending the entire day running around with no success I finally found what I thought to be Cyanofriscosa, but after some much needed sleep that seemed very optimistic. Perhaps the mix of being soaked, six hours of searching, and hunger got the better of me! Anyway, at the end of the day I found these guys.
Drying Out:

Cap:

Print:

12 Hours Later:

Habitat: Coniferous forest floor, lush groundcover on a slight incline, about 7-9 mushrooms in total. These were the largest with the others roughly the size of a pinky nail.
Gills: Too immature to tell.
Stem: Whitish darkening to brown towards the base.
Cap: Brown, still sticky the next day.
Spore print color: Faintly brown, the paper tore when I was removing the cap. (Should go way better next time)
Bruising: No obvious change.
Location: South Washington coast.

Definitely not psilocybe -- were they growing on wood or...? They almost look like honey-mushrooms to me but not quite. Also, it's pretty difficult to get a spore print when the caps haven't opened yet, FYI
Either way, coniferous forests aren't where a beginner would want to look for psilocybes, methinks -- there are some harder-to-identify species in those kinds of habitats but, if I were you, I'd go to grassy, alder-y, blackberry-y areas that are low & close to the coast. You'd have better luck hunting the plentiful cyanescens & azurescens there -- or you could go look in landscaped parks & paths with woodchips or go crawl around in the beach-grass.
-------------------- Found Species: Ps. Azurescens, Ps. Cyanescens, Ps. Baeocystis, Ps. Semilanceata, Pan. Cinctulus

They were a couple yards away minding themselves underneath the trees. Most of my day was spent searching for azurescens since they appear moderately simple to safely ID. After rereading some posts and info this morning I would guess it's not quite chilly enough yet.
I'll definitely avoid the forest next time. There were quite a few mushrooms that looked hilariously ridiculous, but a bit dangerous simultaneously for a newbie.

Well it sounds like you got a good solid hunt in....and honestly....that is one of my favorite parts. But no....whatever those are, they aren't active in any way. Next time you find something that is of interest, try and grab a reasonably mature specimen as well. That way we can look at the gills and the way the veil separated from the stem. Happy hunting.

Species Found: Gymnopilus Luteofolius ~ Panaeolus Cinctulus ~ Psilocybe Baeocystis ~ Psilocybe Cyanescens ~ Psilocybe cyanofibrillosa ~ Psilocybe Semilanceata ~ Psilocybe Stuntzii

I agree, and with caps that glisten and marks on a bulbous stem, peering closely it is also cortinate so a classic Cortinarius sp., not obvious at first glance.
