So I was a noob
    #23706561 - 10/04/16 11:46 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

So...I was a noob, and when I put down my cakes. I put some left over verm down by the base next to the cakes on the tinfoil. Because I thought to myself "maybe that will make some more shrooms grow down there!" So now I look today, and there is green mold on the verm. So I removed it. Also, there is a little bit of green mold on one or two of the cakes, it's always around the base or at the top (where I lovingly sprinkled the extra verm). But it doesn't really appear to be part of the cake. I removed these parts and put them back in the chamber. Is there any hope? Also, am I going to have to throw my perlite out now since some of the contaminated verm was sprinkled on it?

I'd spray bleach on the perlite the next time you remoisten it:

You take the cake out on a clean plate, then you pick out noticeable pieces of mycelium, then spray the perlite with bleach or something strong and let it sit for like ten minutes. Then remoisten the perlite in the shower flush it well, then let it drain well, finally put the cake in again.
If the green keeps coming back I would throw it away.
