rhizomorph string = monoculture ?
    #23706494 - 10/04/16 11:26 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Hey guys,

just a short question. If I manage to cut just one string of a rhizomorph mycelium and place it on an agar plate, is this then a monoculture ?

Definitely nope.

Rhizomorphic growth doesn't really mean shit either.

Generally its about 10-20 transfers on an agar plate before you even see sectoring happen.

One rhizomorphic strand could be dozens of strains

Most monocultures suck so clones are usually vastly preferred. If you do monocultures you want to find at least 10 to test so you hopefully find one worth keeping

Read that thread. It explains monocultures and sectors.
