I've been yearning to find
    #23705496 - 10/03/16 11:50 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

A different form of religion. Either Buddhism or Shintoism and honestly I'd love history and links to texts related to both religions and really any religion with epic mythology. I've been Tritons to find buddahs story sacred Shinto text and I can't find it

Nice thread.

I can point you towards the Mahabrata if you have not examined that yet.

You will find an amazing story full of drama, glory, passion, love.. all of it, man.

It's divided into two parts...

the Ramayana and the Bhagavad Gita...

have fun

Do I just Google these books? Are there some passages more note worthy such as the Bible's burning bush, the part of the Red Sea etc? I'm sure there's some good parables about karma and I wonder about how many subreligions Shintoism is involving. I'm doing this to stray and start a journey of a peaceful life. I have relative peace ATM but I hate so much right now and I miss having something to believe in but don't miss the religioni grew up with. I'm not going to magically convert but I'd think Buddhist and especially Shinto parables would be wiser then most religions. I think this because there is a distinct karma driven never ending cyclical universe. As far as I understand a universe is born and dies every day and possibly every moment. Shinto belifes also believe heavily in naturally spirits.

For those that do believe , how far/much do you think about reincarnation, past lives, gods controlling elements.  Maybe the earth has natural spirit gods for everything nature produced i.e. River gods, gods of air, earth.

If you're from America and haven't read the bible yet I suggest reading that.

Learn about your country.... Learn why your country and the majority of the world push the new testament Jesus Christ agenda. It'll give you insight into why things are the way they are here.

The all seeing eye, the pyramids, egypt, The Father, The son, slavery, freedom, the battle between good and evil. you'll find out what it all means. (if you have the wisdom to comprehend it)

People think they know what it's all about but most of them have no idea.

Ok you were raised on it but have you actually read the scriptures or did you just listen to pastures and parents telling you what they think about it.

A lot of things can be misinterpreted.

I've read the scripture the king James being the most widely accepted , I think it's a bastardized version of what must've been the Bible hundreds and hundreds of years ago and now it's a fear based book that has amazingly boring peace stories in it and there are many books that made no sense . I just don't want not even a little more information on that kind of scripture. No offense but that's why I'm making this thread

Therein lies your problem...

Like I said, not many people are able to understand what they read, listen to, and watch.

You'd be surprised at how many people can watch the same movie and have different opinions on what it's about. Some see it for what it is on the surface but there are people who actually see the underlying messages it's trying to propose.

Take a kid and adult watching the same movie for instance.

Anyways, I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for and that you are able to understand that as well.

A baby was presented to king Solomon both women claiming to be the mother. King Solomon says "Cut the baby in half!" One woman screams no! Don't saw the baby in half! The other basically says "do it,saw the baby in half" . So he says Well! The mother that said don't saw the baby you have proven yourself the true mother. What kind of fucked up lady says "sure I'll take half the baby". Also how the fuck does that prove she's the mother because she doesn't want the child down in half .

Truth is there's a lot of stories in the Bible and there's nothing you can do about it. I've never once seen a Buddhist /shintoist think their religion is superior and ran the metaphoric foot down my throats like many do. I used to go to church 3 times a week I'm not going to repeat this I do not want any judeo Christian texts . I'm look for more eastern religions . Not Middle East though

YHWH gave Solomon the gift of wisdom and judgement. It takes both wisdom and judgement to be a King. A righteous King has to be able to discern from what's right and what's wrong....

So he's given a situation to judge. 2 ladies. Both contradicting each other. One is telling the truth. One is telling a lie.

Solomon is put to the test to discern right from wrong here... That's what this situation symbolizes.

The lady saying: please... spare the baby she can have it, is the one that cares for the baby more. She was willing to sacrifice her baby to the other lying woman in order for the baby to be spared.

The other lady saying: dammit fine.... kill the baby. There's nothing we can do... waaaaaah... She doesn't care enough about the baby because she'd rather have the baby dead then admit that she's lying. This proves that she doesn't care enough about the baby. Which means she wasn't the mother.

In life we have to make decisions like that all the time.... What's right and what's wrong. And the bible has plenty of stories that give great moral lessons regarding that.

No one's pushing anything down your throat man. I've studied a lot of religions before I got here. There are a lot of so called christians/catholics. etc. that really don't understand the scriptures at all so they give it a really bad name. Christianity/Catholicism is imho Luciferianism. The new testament is the lie and the old testament is the truth.

It's pretty much the force vs the darkside. The truth and lies.

The Zen Teachings of Huang Po, awesome Shambala pocket classic. He cuts right through. I've read it many times and keep it my backpack as a spare because it is easy to carry.

I might have meant this for the spiritual texts thread.

Didn't mean to get volitile about it it's just A) I'm specifically interested in Shintoism and buddhism because I believe in spirits to a degree but I need stories that just make me think. B) I feel certain christian beliefs stopped me from achieving my dreams it was in my opinion a very repressed chapter of my life. Tons of bible stories were implanted at a very young age, went to church a lot and grew up in it. I may still believe in Christ but I'm resolved to reserve that decision for later

Im in a different chapter now when I'm a bit atheist and it's working for me.

I did like the Solomon explanation and I know it's a parable to teach not literal. But do you think that ever happened or is it just a lie to get a point across. You have to admit, what kind of a lunatic says "agh go ahead and kill the baby if I can't have it" Fucking psycho woman  that just says "yeah cut the baby in half I'll take the top part ". She's so fucked up she calls it the top part

What kind of spirits are you talking about here... I'll have you know that spirits are definitely real. As well as fortune telling, wizardry, soothsayers, etc.

There's people that can tap into your mind and predict future events. This is all forbidden stuff that YHWH say's is abomination.

I have no doubt in my mind that the lunacy in people exists. Whether it was real or not, is the same as asking anything else....

You turn on the news and you see something. Was it real or staged? A magic show, real or fake? These Bhuddist beliefs, who wrote them, are they real or not?

I'll let you be the judge.

I'm not saying bad it's just an unlikely scenario that I think was drummed up to benefit Kind Solomon during his rule. The Bible has probably been changed more times then any religious text in history except maybe the Quaran.

I just am simply looking for a more nature based religion. Or one that I can apply to becoming a calmer person. I feel Christianity and Judaism teach morality . I feel from what I know of Buddhism and Shintoism it's about loving yourself loving the people and world around you.

The spirits I believe in is for example when I had a nde I evaporated into a spirit and that was done deal. Ever since then I've been convinced nature has certain spirit attachments as well. Especially animals but extending to more. Shintoism is centered around spirits I know that. I just have very little knowledge on what text they use
