October Find, Please help Identify
    #23704539 - 10/03/16 06:09 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

OK, so I was on an afternoon bike ride today and stumbled across some mushrooms growing underneath a row of pine trees. Some of the mushrooms were completely visible and others were were hidden underneath the bed of pine needles under the trees.

Gills:
The gills are dark brown , almost black when squashed. They look like they are not attached to the stems.

Stem:
The stems are about 3-4 inches tall, they are thick but hollow in the center. They are a white to creamy color at first but after breaking them they appear to be turning a slightly black or grey color.

Cap:
The caps are about 5 inches in diameter and are avary from a creamy color to a slightly darker tan color and also they are turning black around the edges on the top.The texture is smooth.

Spore print color:
The spore print color is looking like a brownish color with a slightly purple hue throwout so far.

Bruising:
The bruising is starting to look like a slightly bluish gray on the upper stem right where it connects to the cap. The caps are bruising black

These smell exactly like that cow manure smell that you taste in your mouth when you eat active mushrooms. They were found in Indiana and the temperature was in the 70s today. It has been rainy lately.
