Looks bacterial to me.
Probably in the syringe from the beginning. Syringes are never perfectly clean. But there's no way to tell for sure. The important thing to know is that the area in question isn't right.
If growth is completely halted at that spot, I would birth the jar, rinse under cool water, and sort of 'rub' that spot off. Then dunk and roll in fine vermiculite. It is a small area, it should be fine.
After rolling, allow the cake to sit undisturbed for around 30 mins before giving them the first mist. This will help the verm adhere to the cake better. If all you have is coarse grade verm, find a way to grind it up a bit more. It's not a necessity but IME it makes for a better roll.

Oh. -and welcome to the shroomery. Everyone here is super cool, except for Morty422- he's a douchebag...

Remember there is a separate area of this site dedicated to contamination.

Thanks peeps also do you think it's a good idea to build this guy a separate FC than my other cakes just to be safe if I do try to wash and birth?

but the questions are better suited here since the contamination forum part of this forum is neglected and seldom posted in by knowledgeable regulars. it happens but I wouldn't count on it.
morty has it right, read his post
