How much air do colonizing BRF cakes need?

While I wait for my BRF cakes to colonize can I put then in a closed plastic container or will this suffocate them?
Also instead of micropore tape will rtv still let the jar have gas exchange?
Was thinking for my next jars 2 holes with micro pore tape and 2 self healing holes for inoculation.

Why place the jars in a plastic bag, what purpose does that serve? If you're worried about contams getting in, you shouldn't, that's what the inch top layer of verm is for, to protect the brf cake underneath. Therefore, no need for the micropore tape. You should have 4 small holes spaced equally apart ready to be inoculated with your syringe. I also hope you're using 1/2 pint wide mouth jars, because those are standard for pf cakes

What tutorial did you read that said to use silicone injection ports? What tutorial did you read that said to put your jars into a closed space? What tutorial did you read that told you to use 2 holes instead of 4? What tutorial did you read that said to use micropore tape on brf cakes?
Did you make your own tutorial before ever having a grow under your belt?

don't wing it, there's decades of evolution lead to some nearly fool proof methods. changing a thing here or there sets you back 20 years in terms of our understanding of how to avoid 50% success rates.

4 inoculation points is not necessary, but may colonize more slowly with 2. Micro pore tape on bed jars was used in RRs videos by the other feller who was prepping the jars, it doesn't hurt to have it there from what I understand.

4 knock points is pretty important IMO. With no way to distribute inoculation points inside the jar you are opening up a possibility of contamination. With spores especially your best defense for a clean cake is trying to out compete any competitors. Taking twice as long for any colonization is risky.

There is a seemingly legit guide on the forum where a guy does use micropore tape for the PF tek, and it also advocates MS->LC->BRF
From experience it's very easy to take the shitty guides as legit, I was lucky enough for evilmushroom666 to link me his much better tek when I messed up my very first try.

You want the jars on a shelf where they will get indirect light, not in a bag or container. The holes shouldn't have tape on them bc the vermiculite barrier prevents contams on the substrate. The holes themselves are the injection points AND gas/fresh air exchange. No need for self healing holes or any of that stuff.
