i want to start growing some king oysters and wondering were to start? what sponsor has good spores.
i have grown cubes so how different is it?
and what good sub mixes is good to use? like is just a bag of saw dust almost the same as a bag of sawdust, straw and some other combo?
i have seen alot of straw sausages but not sure of the content in them, but now that the fall is here and all farmers have cut their weats and so on can i just as simple use this stuff the straws left over on the ground and roll them into bags? :P

If you want something high end I would recommend the trading section. Most strains of commercial grade go for 100-350 USD and you can find them in the trade section.

With Kings the standard substrate is 20%(wheat bran)supplemented sawdust in bag culture. Bags are inoculated and incubated for 2-3 weeks and then the bags need 5-7 days in 50-60 degrees to induce pinning invitro, the bags are then cut open up leaving a wall around the block and placed in the grow room in temps between 60-70, and RH 85-90. As far as spores go, I have no idea but Aloha Culture Bank sells some of the best King Oyster spawn and cultures, I buy King Oyster K01 spawn from them, it is totally worth it to buy some super bomb spawn and then you can take some grains to dishes and save the culture. It's way different from cubes, but so fun and the most tasty mushroom out there IMO. You can check out the King Oyster link in my sig to see how I do it.
