First the BP oil spill terrified and saddened me-
Then Fukushma horrified me and convinced me the world would end
Then I learned about the Arctic methane release and realized that by comparison Fukushma is nothing .
That broke the meter on my horror and end of the world terror so I stopped following the news or paying attention to anything disturbing.
We are all going to die eventually and the world will.will end eventually-
I am a doomsday prepped and a survivalist- and I will keep developing my doomsday fortress for as long as I live.
But my real solution is spirituality. I know / believe that the soul is immortal and survives the death of the body and that consciousness does not depend on the brain.
Attaining salvation and enlightenment and enjoying my life is my priority. Anything that causes me stress I completely ignore.
Breathe deep, seek peace, and prep hard

There's radioactive shit everywhere, sunlight is radioactive. The particles you need to worry about from the fukushima reactor are not the alphas, betas, or gammas; it is the neutrons, but these decay in about 7 minutes. Also water having a large neutron capture cross section helps suck those free nuetrons. They are better off in the ocean making heavy water, than in our lungs making god knows what.
I'm not saying there's not a problem with all the radiation, but people are too afraid about what they don't know. Plus media coverage : radiation is bad blah blah scary shot blah blah nuclear reactors cause more damage than coal burning plants blah blah coal is so profitable for us.

Some extra people in Japan will get various forms of cancer. Some wildlife extremely close to the release point may experience an increase in mutations.
It is not the end of the world and in many ways probably less devastating than a chemical release could easily be. In fact wildlife will probably thrive in the surrounding land and water because people will not be living or fishing in those areas.
Radiation in all but the most extreme cases does not equal mass death by any means. It isn't really poison. It just leads to some gene changes that may or may not manifest as mutations and cancers in fairly small percentage of human and animal populations.
There is a lot of stuff to worry about, and this accident is a giant mess, but it is barely even a single straw on the camel's back of our global environment.
