I read on PF that if you see water damage you should birth it right away, even if its not 100% colonized. Wait and see what others say first. I colonize my jars top down, so any standing water is absorbed by the dry vermiculite layer.

Try this, If your cakes are already 80-95% colonized than you can see that the sides of the cakes have shrunk. Take the jar and tap it on its lid untill you see space between the top of the jar and your cake. If you can get air in this space your colonization will be finished very quickly. Just leave the jars on their lids. But definately wait untill their fully colonized, expecialy if this is your first grow.

From personal experience the tapping method works well.. but.. water does tend to condense on the bottom, it just makes the mycelium look wierd, you should be ok unless its an extreme amount of water flinging allover your shit. but it should be fine. and tapping speeds the colonization of the bottom of the jar up much faster.

Thank you guys for sharing that tek with me .... I have already done it to the cakes and it seems to have helped a bit. The water that was condensing on the sides has mostly been absorbed into the dry vermiculite layer....

Thanks again ...

Salem
