From just a superficial standpoint. that absinthe kit for $10 looks quite reasonably priced and fair. When I have more funding, I'll be sure to check it out.

It's perfectly legal to sell the ingrediants, but the FDA doesn't approve of actual absinthe. I think it's more along the lines of being banned as "Food" rather than "Drug".

yeah you can legally have absinthe extract but the moment you prepare it for human consumption (pour it in a cup and add sugar i guess) then its illegal

From as far as I can tell from Erowid, it's probably not illegal as in getting locked up, but rather you're just not supposed to have it. Anyone have any other info on it?

OK the USA Absinthe law is weird at best. I will do the best to explain it as I understand. The herbs are legal. The extract is legal... because it is undrinkable in extract form. You would have to have a licence to legally distill the herbs, and wormwood (thujone) has not been approved by the food and drug administration... so it would be impossible to legally distill in America (other, similar processes may be legal to do at home as long as you don't use less heat... so it isn't distilation). It is illegal to SELL Absinthe in America (Although many do... in New Orleans... for example). It is LEGAL to buy absinthe (or at least, the buyer will not be punnished... well they may take the absinthe) in America. It is legal to posess Absinthe in America. It is legal to injest Absinthe in America. Hope that helps. If I am wrong, please let me know. Until the FDA approves absinthe in America, Americans will have to import (at risk of seizure) or brew their own (without the benefit of distilation) to stay within the law... unless they happen on a vendor. Remember, it is legal to Buy absinthe. It is only illegal to sell absinthe. The taste of a kit will probably be more bitter than extract because it isn't distilled and wormwood has a potent, bitter flavor (unless you take the risk and distill it). The absinthe kit... should taste more herbal... which my tongue prefers. Many absinthes taste more like candy than herbs... I think these absinthes are swill.

What are the differences between this and absinthe sold in spain, czeck repub., etc... also do you, for historical purposes of course, include a list of instructions as to how absinthe was historically made?

So, if someone were to drink it in a country where it was legal, how much would you recommend drinking? Does 1 shot do it? 2? 10?
