Incubating spawn bags in wine cooler to keep 66 degrees question?
    #23701583 - 10/02/16 08:40 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Hi

I am about to start a spawn bag run. I have read that the internal temp of the mycelium can reach 10*F hotter then the ambient temp as the mycelium matures. Because of this its my understanding that it is best to incubate spawn bags around 66*F. I have a wine cooler I am not using and it was the easiest way I could think to maintain this temp. Do you folks see anything wrong with doing this? Do you think theres enough air flow? Should I open the cooler daily to allow fresh oxygen?

Thanks so much

I would just sit the bags on a shelf like I do now with my jars

Your fine at room temp, as long as you don't start going over 80F ambient air temp. Then other contams start to thrive.

:whathesaid: bags are fine at room temperature, we store ours on shelves at anywhere between 70 & 78 degrees.
