Strange fruit: Please help with ID

I thought these were cubes--penis envy but they look very bizarre compared to others I have seen which look well like penises.

Details: Spore syringe to agar to popcorn to coir/verm/cow poo casing. Colonized in 5 days, great looking pin set and then this, now 5 days after pinning.

Wow that's really crazy yet beautiful looking.
I want to follow this thread just to see what the more experienced guys have to say.
You probably should have posted this in the ID forum though.

Well. If those are cubes. (Assume they are) they're the most bizarre I've ever seen.
Nice job.

They are fine to eat IMO. They look like cubes still.
I'd harvest them now though. Looks like trich starting to form on some of your caps.

Yeah I was thinking they look like KSSS but very cool whatever they are. Never seen ridged stipes like that. Reminds me of hot air balloons or pumpkins lol.

So I agree after having searched for KSSS--that was news to me, but pretty certain that they are PC as all the other stuff I ordered were well known edibles. As suggested gonna harvest but almost hate the idea of dehydrating as they are just so interesting looking. It will be interesting to see what haappens with subsequent flushes. I don't even see spores on these....
If anyone has a minute I'd like to learn more about the KSSS story.

I've yet to grow out any mutated KSSS.
Had it three different times. The first time produced a few mutants. The other two times looked like normal cubes. I'd love to get a mutated print.

I have some KSSS on grain but its lineage is through some well known Canadian cultivators on here. I haven't grown it out so I can't be sure, but it's supposed to just produce normal fruits.

They look so juicy This mutation is definitely on my must grow list But yeah it's a matter of luck, some people who grow this strain get regular fruits. Some get mutated fruits and regular on second flush and some get mutations for all their flushes. I know if I get a mutant I'm cloning that fucker and growing out a tub

Yeah. I just wedge dropped it today and I'm excited to finally grow it out. I've had it sitting around for a long time and finally got around to doing something with it.

OK, but happy he did as these are far more gnarly than anything else I have grown--assuming that is, potency is on a par with other strains. Appreciate the help guys. So if subsequent flushes sporulate, I may get this again?? I still have a bit of this on grain, and of course the original syringe. Tissue culture is an option I can explore as well if that's the way to ensure future gnarliness.

They are rumored to be more potent than average cubes and more dense Never heard about in comparison to PE, but keep in mind as far as I know could very well be BS. Only way to guarantee potency, as with any cube strain, would be cloning and isolating

You could take a biopsy from the inside of a fruit and grow it on agar. That 'clone' would have all the same characteristics when grown out. You could then slant a cleaned clone sample and preserve it for some time.
When I grew KSSS they appeared normal, but were dense and woody. Hard to chew almost. They hit like a truck and were kinda short. Someone once said they were like "a good party cube" and so I ate one (about 2.5g biggun') before going out one night. That really sucked, and I had to go home because it was too much. I was having too much trouble talking, and I don't think I finished a sentence for about 3 hours. But that's all subjective, innit?

The chances of subsequent flush spore producing the same mutations are far less than if you did a tissue clone. The same goes for the already inoculated grain you have. Genetics and spore pairing plays a huge role in the fruit you will get. There are billions of different possible combinations.

Those are definitely KSSS no doubt about it at all. I am working with them now...
After bioassay: Very smooth and clean with bright colors and very pronounced patterns. I also have 2 tubs that will be fruiting very soon. One is pinning now.

When ordering a KSSS print for looking under my microscope, is there any way to request or confirm you're getting the mutant? I want to try it again.
Also yes, the KSSS I usually have grown has been quite short, very pretty symmetrical normal looking cubes.

Can you confirm it was/wasn't sent? It was supposed to include a small bit of agar too, which worries me someone thought I was getting cocaine in the mail or something. Been increasingly paranoid lately. I'd rather it have never been sent than sent and....vanished. Lemme know man. Again very sorry mine got returned. Your ovoid print is back in the mail box.

I can absolutely confirm that it was mailed out. I sent one pack of agar and the print. It should have definitely showed up...but I doubt they would think it's cocaine brotha...it has Asian writing all over it and certainly doesn't smell anything like it.

So the fruits of course vary in size and many are grown into twins and triplets. They are dense--almost like sclerotia. The yield of what you saw was about 800+ grams, the individual pumpkins averaged 30 TO 40 grams; a triplet of three fused pumpkins is about 100g. I'll try to take some pics tomorrow, Pretty decent flush but the coin sizes caps seen in the pics I'm guessing are aborts. This off about 3 quarts popcorn and the casing which had a fair amount of poo and coir. Once I dehydrate I'll let you know what the losses are.
FTI: Pretty intense bluing in the FWIWD--the trich that seemed present on a couple of caps nowhere to be seen, so I should get a couple more flushes.

Someone once said they were like "a good party cube" and so I ate one (about 2.5g biggun') before going out one night. That really sucked, and I had to go home because it was too much. I was having too much trouble talking, and I don't think I finished a sentence for about 3 hours. But that's all subjective, innit?
So the cap and not the stem for the biopsy? I'm still learning but I thought stems were preferred. Either way, no problem. These are really dense--almost like sclerotium. Hoping they have a little extra.

Yeah you should use the inside of the stem for the biopsy. Start the cut with a scalpel and then rip the mushroom in half, and cut from the very center of the mushroom.

Look around you... Everything you see exists inside the mind. Consciousness, the awareness that is experiencing this mind, is peering in from outside the universe. Our individual experiences are all part of the universe's experience of itself
