My puppy keeps trying to hump me when I work out...
    #23700546 - 10/02/16 02:57 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Its a girl too and she is only like 7 months or so but she literally just started trying to hump me when I was doing push ups

First she dove off the couch onto my back while I was trying to do push ups, then she started climbing on my legs/ back which she has done before.

All of a sudden I feel her twitching all weird and turn around to see her trying to hump my upper legs/ ass :uhoh: She did it a few times in a row...

My moms old roomate used to have a big burly and dumb as a brick pit bull who was also super sweet, anyways she taught him to hump on command... More like she would get him really worked up and he would just start humping like crazy, he often knocked people over becouse he was so big and pretty heavy. Thankfully he was a sweetheart and it was just excitement taking over.

Is it a dominance thing or something?

7 months is not that young for a dog, they are still young no doubt, but not as young as we think. We got a pup over here too that's probably about the same age, dude is already a bastard. Probably picked it up from other dogs.

Yeah that is a good point, I have had her for like 5 months and she has progressed from a baby to a nefarious child :shakefist:

Dude pups are usually extra aggro but my pup is like a tomboy German shepherd :tongue2: She chews on rocks and metal, once I caught her outside with a razor she found somewhere  Amazingly she hadn't even cut herself when I found her, not even sure where she got it from but it could have been bad as it was one of the long skinny ones... She is a major whackadoo.

I occasionally bite her back when she gets too rough with me  Always pretty gently but it still gets her super riled up :tongue2:

It is a dominance thing. The alpha dog humps the submissive.  It could also have something to do with being on the ground.

Yeah maybe I looked vulnerable or something  she definitely tries to be dominant a lot of the time. Its pretty cute usually but she can be crazy.

I don't even think "taught" is the best word for it, it was more just her encouraging his funny behavior most likely

Reinforcing (positive and negative conditioning) is as simple as eliciting a response.  I.e, dog learns to hump people because the owner laughs nervously everytime he does.  This can be dangerous for several reasons, he could jump up and hurt a child or old person, a stranger may think he is attacking, etc.

Dogs are pay it forward and sensitive, my dog picked up 'playing dead' by rolling to her back and lying motionless, which I reward by smiling and paying her my attention.

I once worked with the biggest humper-mutt who was also female.  This bitch would hump the air if no dog or person or table was available.  Squirting within a few seconds of undesired behavior with a water bottle was quite effective.

Not super uncomfortable, it was just weird/ random. I haven't had a dog do that in awhile

Don't play coy with me.

Your penis. When the dog humped your leg, did it move?

It wouldn't mean you have erotic feelings for the dog. It's only the contact factor, it will do that to anyone.

Just give the dam puppy some play already and it might stop humping your face when you're doing pushups

No thanks, I did school her pretty good though which mainly consisted of me holding her down and smacking her up a bit with the remnants of the sandwich and its box

Are you suggesting that you could've possibly gotten a semi if you had been wearing shorts instead? It's possible.
