Okay so first post. Nice to meet you all. Let me start by saying I did a lot of reading before I started my first grow. I decided to try a combo of both brf cakes and grains. I started with spore syringes of b+ and GT both ive herd were decent starters.
I did a batch of GT in an honey LC, and wait till it was 40% colonized and took a syring full through a self healing injection port. I knocked my grain jars. Nothing after 2 weeks. Not even a small bit. I tossed em. Now because they didn't Start I knocked up a brf cake to test for contamination. I only did one, I did that because I felt if I was to have contamination this one would show it. I didn't wanna waste spores on all this. (I have started agar but just yesterday) as as well everything was done in a SAB
My question is does my brf cake look good? My personal thought is that it's fine. Am I Wrong and this is actually cobweb mold or just cotton like mycelium?

If your talking about the dark spot. I think that's a piece of verm. It's my first brf so I think not all the verm got covered perfectly.

Yes mycelium in the presence of some awful bacteria. No wonder your grain jars didn't show anything. Bacteria loves grains much more than pf. Probably colonized all your spawn.

My grain jars didn't have contams though. No funny smells. Just grain smelling if that make sense. Just no growth. Again the dark spot your seeing im positive is verm that didn't get coated in brf.

There's plenty of odorless bacteria. But I am actually talking about the myceliums reaction to things. It is very stressed. Wet spot bacteria on the bottom of the first one. Second one has bruising from bacteria, and a few giant white growths. That is what lots of trusted cultivators call "cottage cheese growth" which is bacteria, or rather myceliums reaction to bacteria. You eventually get to a point where you can see what mycelium is telling you what's up. It's actually really cool that mycelium does that. Anyways, if it colonizes it, try fruiting it bacterial grows are usually lower yield, but still can be viable.

Well gives me a better idea of things. Thanks! But i think the pictures I got are bad I'll take a better one and you'll see no brusing. I'm clueless about you seeing that?? I don't see it. Maybe lighting. I've got a digi ill use tonight.

Might also be the wrong spot but I've tried searching for a good patato flake agar solution. Everyone I read doesn explain about mixing it. Just about what it needs. Do I heat it while mixing or just mix it cold then PC it. All my agar solutions I've tried have had sediment in it and is gonna make it difficult to see the different sectors when isolating sub-strains.
