Black Ink/Powder Mushroom Pics
    #2370015 - 02/23/04 12:06 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Hi. This mushroom grew under our sink. It?s releasing some ink-like liquid and is making a mess in the cupboards. Can anybody identify this mushroom? Is it edible/poisonous? Is it worth anything? It has a brittle stem and a black cap.

Probably a coprinus, some are edible some aren't. Don't eat anything without an exact ID.. And I definately wouldn't eat it after it's deliquesced (sp?) or growing under my sink with all my chemicals ahhhhhhk.

Peace - @cro

A few species of Coprinus are good edibles. None of them are active.

To identify them we need to see them before they turn into inky slime.

Happy mushrooming!

Hehe. It's the first time I saw a mushroom that isn't dry. It wasn't me holding the shroom, it was my sister-in-law, although we were all scared to touch it, we were thinking it might cause some irritations or something.

In-laws are great for that purpose, aren't they?

I've never seen any coprinus mushrooms that looked like that but then again I'm not a taxonomist.
