Look like a good basket for a laundry basket grow?

-------------------- Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, “What road do I take?” The cat asked, “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat, “it really doesn’t matter, does it?”

Get some cheap plastic bags you will be much happier with small blocks/logs. Baskets dry out fast.

Hm, I was going to just go with a laundry basket for a first grow but maybe I should start with small log(s)

What are the plastic bags that you use for straw logs called?

poly tubes, they start around $140 for a roll. You can get away with large bread and fruit plastic bags from the supermarket. I even used to just take a few off the rolls at the butcher section of the supermarket and they worked well. Something like this, https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Unprinted-Produce-Bread-Grocery/dp/B00FERHTF8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1475466003&sr=8-6&keywords=plastic+bag+roll
they are a bit thin but work fine, even can be hung if the substrate isn't too heavy. I believe these bags were in the 5-7lb range, which is really all you need for good BE and fruit size.

This bag of pinks on straw has harvest notes on it 2.5 lbs first flush and by the looks of it another lb 2nd flush, so ~3.5 lbs total.

You just want to contain it? 80 litre clear bin bag, cut to size if needed.

Second thoughts, don't some people make monotubs of any size and tape the holes. Grow inside, might want some plastic over the holes, no tearing mycelium.
Masking tape could work if you want to fruit and colonize.

I would much prefer finding something at home to use rather than spending a bunch of money on poly tubing. So I'll probably go with bread or grocery fruit bags, or maybe a laundry basket as well

humidity is more important than temp, you can bump up the RH by placing them in some thick bush or tall grass. And yes water at least 2-3 times a day if there is no rain.
