Mold, cobweb, bacteria, or wtf is it?
    #23696758 - 10/01/16 10:27 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

So I made up about 6 trays, with a 25/25/25/25 mix of verm/wc/coffee grounds/MG moss and I've been letting them go for a week and decided to take a look at a couple of them, and have found some really fuzzy white blobs, and some faint white fuzz cobweb looking stuff across the entire top of my substrate.... contamination or nothing?

Hella contaminated man. I'd just dump outside and start over. Maybe you'll get some fruits outside.

What is the actual contamination? IYHO what is the sign your seeing that makes this Hella contaminated?

Idk what it is. Do you know how many molds are wispy and grey? People would say cobweb but that is definitely not dactylium, which is what cobweb was originally named after. If you have a sample of it under the scope I could tell you what it is.

It looks contaminated because it's wispy and grey.

This is a great example showing the wispy grey shit next to what healthy mycelium should look like.

Ok great. I thank you very much for the explanation and you even included a sample picture to better explain it even further to me :thanx:

I thought it might have been some airy wispy mycelium trying to colonize the top layer, but now I see the greyish tint and am confident with your opinion on it being contaminated. Outside she goes!

Way to go above and beyond mate  I appreciate your expertise...
