Possible Gymnopilus aeruginosus
    #23694125 - 09/30/16 01:51 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Hi, so I found these mushrooms that I believe to be Gymnopilus aeruginosus. I found them on 2 tree stumps in my home town in Washinton state. They are an orange color, and mostly very young. I noticed that a large cluster of these pin head mushrooms inside the stump had a very Blue/green/yellow bluing effect on the stems of the pin heads. I didn't notice any bluing on the slightly older ones or any green/blue hues on the caps like they sometimes have. At first I thought maybe the color hue was a possible contamination, but now I'm thinking it may be the natural bluing of these young pin head mushrooms. I'm going to wait for some more rain and let them grow up bigger for better identification. Anybody ever seen this blue/yellow/green on pin heads of Gymnopilus aeruginosus before?

No I don't have photos yet, will get some photos this weekend once I can borrow a smart phone or camera. If they do turn out to be Gymnopilus aeruginosus anybody that has tried this mushroom give me an idea on there potential potency? Haven't herd much about them regarding potency and a dosage weight. Defiantly not gona eat anything until I can get a positive ID. Thanks for responding

Those look like two different species. The second one is pholiota aurivella. The first could be a gymnopilus (I wouldn't count on it though). Can you get some pictures of the blue-green bruising you mentioned?
