Man time flies.
I remember playing the shit out of this game for 8 or 10 hours straight when I was a kid...

Were getting old people!

Legend of Zelda was my N64 jam. Before that it was the Mortal Kombat series on the sega genesis! And before that it was MK1 and MK2 on an arcade machine... so many quarters...

That's crazy. I remember when it came out. I also remember when Super Mario World for the SNES came out, and when Super Mario 3 for the NES came out, etc. I even remember when the NES itself was brand new. I don't feel old now as much as I feel like you guys are super young.

THANK YOU!!! I'm like, Super Mario 64?? Really? Shit, I was too busy being in high school and experimenting with drugs and trying to get in chicks' pants to play Super Mario 64. If we're gonna get nostalgic we should be talking about the original Super Mario Bros! I bet half the kids here don't even know what the minus world is.

You gotta get on the console bro, emulators are weak.
I take my N64 collection seriously. Easily my favorite retro console.. even though it's weird to say it's retro

I would if I could. I'm actually in the minority that liked the n64 controller! But time, money, and space are all factors keeping me from doing so. If I were going that route I'd want a legit setup with an old CRT TV and shit. Emulator will have to do for now.

I've often thought the people that made that game - especially the ones who created the courses - had to have been on LSD or something else. I especially had that thought about the rainbow course near the end. I played that course high and felt like I could really relate to the mindset of the developers while they created the course.

No doubt the developers back in those days were on sum shit, mostly good shit I'm sure..
Sometimes I wish they'd remake all these great games exactly the same, but with today's engines.

Ugh. Shitty stories about how people lose their old vida games makes me sad. That's some nostalgia that literally everyone should have. I'm very upset with myself for selling all of my ps2 games a few years back to a game store. They paid me pennies on the dollar for games that I spent hundreds of my own dollars on.

Agreed. Maybe it's just rose tinted glasses but I feel like kids these days just don't get the same kind of rewarding experience through playing video games. Everything is tied to some sort of achievement or unlock system. Back in the day the only achievements were beating the game (or a really tough boss) and your reward was a job well done. Also access to the cheat menus >:D

Super Mario 2 was a weird fuckin game lol.
I still have an original NES. I have all the mario games, excite bike, kung fu, adams family, and a ninja turtles game.
I also still have my N64 which is my favorite console. I have 2 copies of SM64 which I play way more than I should lol. Also have mario kart, golden eye, star fox, and super smash bros.
These games are timeless and I still prefer them to any modern game or console.... But speaking of modern, they are remaking COD4 modern warfare!!! I am seriously considering buying an xbox1 just so I can play this game again. Me and my friends would play this game for like 9 hours straight. I would say SM64 and COD4 are tied for my favorite games of all time.

Yeah, what a great game. I still listen to the OST regularly so for me it feels very relevant still. Like man, Nintendo really changed the world with those games. Mario 64 was a total victory lap for them.
And they still aint quit!

I remember playing the shit out of this game for 8 or 10 hours straight when I was a kid...

Were getting old people!
Mario forever in my I played many Mario games, including Mario kart or whatever. I was pretty wise back then.

That's how I learned to read too, or at least that is what I'm told.
I was forced to read from the dictionary from a very young age, 3 or 4. Also had a lot of national geographic around, some text books and such.
Could read fluently long before video games came into my life (maybe 6 years old)

Violence can inspire focus and rapid progress
Its a shame that didn't extend past reading and a few other things, for the most part my childhood was just a miserable waste of time.

Classic. Loved every minute of it
My fondest video game console of all time.
But what sucked me into video games was this game:

That game is legendary. The sega master system was my first system.
That game was the official opposition to the Zelda series IMO. And I feel until link to the past (many years later and on a much more powerful console), it was much better.
I always dreamed of wonderboy making it to 3d in the same capacity and scope as zelda did...but sadly this never happened
What an epic game though. So many secrets. So much freedom. Great graphics for its day.
The next video game I got lost in was super mario bros 3. Epic of course.
sonic series for the genesis was my next obsession.
Then aladdin for the genesis.
And then I got an n64 with mario 64 and zelda.
The n64 will forever be the greatest of all time IMO
