I'm soaking a brick of coco coir for them. I should harvest some fresh worm castings beforehand to mix them in. These castings are very water retentive, but I noticed if I use them as a top dressing, it sometimes gets a bit heavy and compacted. This will cause my outdoor Khat's to not need water very often, even the ones without a mulching layer. So I wouldn't consider this a bad thing. But whenever I repot plants, I just throw a couple of handfuls in the mix. It improves soil structure and promotes root growth I believe.

I use a very rich soil with mulch on top and big tubs before they go in ground.
Only issue I've had is occasional chlorosis, seems the Green Malaysians are more prone to it than the hardy bumblebee but it's not difficult to correct if you catch it early.

Something about the rifat and green malaysian i had previously, they always suffered from chlorosis. I used ironite before but now i use milorganite.

Good stuff dude. Did you use any hormone?
I have some cuttings going in soil and a few in cups of water. It looks like the ones in water are throwing roots already. It's been like 3 days.

Looking great. Soo big, healthy looking green leafs, must be BB variant.
Im going to try rooting some different cuttings in the DIY Fogponic clooner unit. Shouldn´t be a problem, i wonder how small cuttings one can make and stiff get them to grow well. Some experimentation, that will be fun.

I've been wanting to try tissue culture. But I'm not going to attempt it until I have everything I need set up neatly and clean..basically do it right the 1st time..as in try my best to set myself up for success so im not wasting my time. Won't be this year. Maybe next spring I'll have the ball rolling.
Mateo keep us posted on the fogponic.

Im about to start with some tissue culture experiments too. But so many thing happening now time isnt enough. I have most things gathered to try it on an experimentation level. Maybe this summer during vacation weeks. One thing that intrests me is the possibility to propagate otherwise hard plants as Erythroxylum. But cacti and mitragynas would be fun to try also.

Well its been raining nonstop for thw past 3 or so hours and i finally decided to throw my coffee grounds on the bumble bee. It is nonstop. And the streets are flooded. Hopefully it doesnt last too long cause then my cacti are fucked. When this types of rain begin that orange rust cancer starts because they take up too much water.

That orange rust cancer is wreaking hawok with my trichocereus seedlings. I had them outside for a few days but that was a terrible misstake. I think i must repot them, it seems to spread from one to the next. Maybe i can save a few at least.
Does this orange cancer affect other plants as mitragynas too?

One thing I found is it's better not to take cutting from the main stem, at least not near the end of the season. I mean they root well and do great clones but the motherplant seems to suffer from it. Most of the 12+ kratom plants that died on me this winter were the ones I topped, maybe it's just a coincidence but something to consider.
I won't top any of mine now until they get like 2 meters tall.

I always take into consideration how tall i want it in the end when cutting the top. In the past i have cut them way to early and they then have trouble getting the height i want. They get bushy though. For a motherplant made to produce cuttings that might work. But for a plant who is going to be a big tree in the future, better not cut the top.

If you have a large enough tree, where you take it from doesnt really matter. A tree like mine that i trimmed is a little more questionable but with all the rain its loving it.

Just now I repotted the Kratom plants. They were getting root bound already. It's only two months ago since they arrived at my doorstep, in a tiny little pot. I used an equal mixture of coir, organic potting soil and perlite/lava rocks. A couple of handfuls of fresh worm castings were mixed in as well.

FACK! I got spider mites on my main kratom trees. I've never had spider mites before, and have read about a few ways to treat them, but most seem more befitting for outdoor applications.
How do y'all prefer to treat for spider mites while indoors?

I fucking hate spidermites... Neem oil or Azamax spray everyday for a week or two should work. If you don't have any, spray them with insecticidal soap or even just regular soapy water until you get something better to treat, don't wait. Even just plain water helps somewhat, they hate humidity.
