Poison Drink said: I'm excited to finally grow my own Mitragyna speciosa! I received two Red Indo cuttings in the mail today, in pristine condition. They were planted in a mixture of equal parts organic potting soil, coco coir and perlite with an added handful of dried cow manure.

Those look to be in very good condition. Im sure you will like growing mitragynas. They are growing very fast and it feels revarding to see them grow. They are easy to make cuttings from and they love water, humidity and warmth. Good luck with those.

Thanks! They don't seem to be suffering from any transportation stress at all. I put them in a mini greenhouse in front of a sunny window which blocks the strongest afternoon sun. They handle it well considering these were grown under lights. Once they've settled a bit, they will be slowly introduced to outdoor conditions. I don't believe they'll fit in the greenhouse for too long anyhow.

So thanks to my buddies here, you know who you are, ive managed to germinate some mitrgyna seeds. If some, here dont knowi am a roughneck. I work 14 days and rest 14 days. I am quite productive on my days off, plant wise.
So my kratom subtstrate was quite dry. Dry for as far as kratom loves it. Just right now i transplanted 12 rifat, 12 GM, and 12 red vein thai seedlings. Individually i think they may benefit from a single cell. They are all very small. Yet some had roots as along as 2 inches. Impressive for such a small seedlings.
Ill post later next week to see the results. I was as gentle as possible. Hope it goes well.

I think so... to some extent anyway. Its not a guarenteed win against them, but it does appear to deter them somewhat.

One of my plants roots
The roots get really long, I guess it may be superior to use a "tree" pot when planting these, a pot that's fairly deep I sowed some Daun Jambu seeds yesterday, a Malaysian strain sometimes known as Super Kratom or Guava Kratom. I've heard that it's harder to grow than regular kratom. The leaves are lots smallar but more potent. Hopefully I'll see some sprouts within a week or two.

Some metals like copper cause a sort of redox reaction in the slime / mucous membrane of snails which essentially electrocutes them though mildly. Just like electric wires that are supposed to deter e.g. cats from a garden, it only works to some extent because if the animal is hungry enough or enough of a stubborn asshole they will ignore it. (I like cats myself by the way, my dad does not and neither what animals like cats do in his garden)
My plants don't grow as fast as micaele's but still they're gaining momentum.. Not quite ready yet to start putting some in hydro.
Red Thai

Green Malay

@ Daun Jambu: exciting can't wait to see what that mysterious kind is like, how it is to grow, etc
Am waiting on some components, then I can get my big humidity tent operational for humidity loving species like these! It will also be getting CO2 vented from my mushrooms ('mycoponics'). It will have 140 lm/W (super-efficient) IP68 (very waterproof) epistar LED (3000K + 6000K so dual spectrum).

Im very curious and excited about the Daun Jambu variety. Keep us uppdated with your progress Micaele.
As you know i have put 2 seedgrown Riafats in a bubbler bucket and here are some pics of them and the roots they have developed
The setup, just a bucket with water+ferts and an akvarium bubbler stone at the bottom. An akvarium airpump push air to the bubbler stone via a small hose.
Roots on the smaller one and the bigger one.
The bigger one are branching and soon i will have to put it in a separate bucket.
My plan is to use these as motherplants and take cuttings from them. Preferably i want to have one of each variety in a bubbler bucket.
Regarding the copper against snails, i have made a wooden frame in the garden where i plan to grow stuff like poppies and others. I will try put some copper tape, about an inch wide, around the whole frame. Hopefully it will have at least some effect.

Thise rifats are beauties Mateo. I love the red. Beautiful work bro. Good karma for you.

Excellent work mateo. As for the tape... not sure how well it would adhere to the wood. Better for plastics and clay ime. Though that link i posted about the copper mesh looks more promising for a planter box. That and even heavier options like wire or 1/4 inch piping might be better for larger systems.

Well, you are right the tape doesnt stick to wood very good.
But then like a old wild west scumbag i pull up my secret weapon, my stapler gun! Pow pow pow, copper tape isnt going anywhere... done.
Lol, but it might be working. If the copper tape will keep them away that is.

I hope they grow good so we can start spread the Daun Jambu variety around here. Though it´s said they grow slower than ordinary kratom and the leafs are smaller. The positive part is that they should be more than double the potency. Maybe we can do some crossing experiments.
