I have Bumble B that arrived recently, the stem is about 12 - 15 long and very thin with 4 leafs at the very top and 2 tiny tiny new growth leafs, the 2 main sets are about a half inch apart.
I wanted to know if I cut the top half of that plant off and root it(to make it less lanky, easier to manage, and so that the stem will thicken up easier) will the bottom half of the leafless stem survive and sprout new shoots and leafs since it already has an established root ball of will it parish do to no leafs for photosynthesis?
Love & Light
I'd wait until was a lot bigger and with more shoots before doing any cloning. Krat is a little trickier than other plants... Likely BC its a tree and I find most trees I've worked with are a bit trickier. Its not hard but particular. Sorry y'all I've been meaning on Sharing my cloning method but I've been super busy. I'll post it soon, I promise.
Ferrel, nice plants bro! I Like the plastic bottle method of keeping the tops safe and sound in transit... That's a great idea! They'll bounce back in no tiempo.. Krat is a survivor species... They can stand to get a little ruffed up here and there no problem. Grow on dude.
KBG, nice bro
Thanks
See its not so much about cloning it.
I just want the plant to be more proportionate because right now its really long 12-15 inches but its extremely skinny and the only 4 leaves it has are at the very top so I was thinking about snipping the top off and rooting it forcing it to be proportionate and hoping the bottom half would also survive since it has a decent little root ball.
But I havent yet decided what Im going to do.
I would like your opinion and anyone else willing to chime in.
Thanks
Love & Light
Shoot us some pics, and I can tell you what I would do.
I detest long, and tall lanky plants with very little leaves with a passion!
So,I keep all my plants,no matter what the species, topped, and trimmed up into little bushes.
I learned this from topping cannabis, and I applied it to all my other plants, and have been for years and years.
I have already trimmed up my new kratom plant, and it is already pushing out lots of side shoots!

If its got a nice root ball and is coming along nicely, it'll pup out new shoots. Personally I'd wait until its already moving in that direction... But to each his own my friend. It is your tree. If that is what you feel is right... Then go for it.
And yeah post some pics if you can... My Buddy has a plant I gave him... He kept it in a mostly shade spot, well partial sun I guess... It grew super tall and skinny.. And I thought 'damn wtf. I've never seem a krat plant grow like that before.... But ypo its growing so w/e, don't say anything, let homeboy do his thing...' Well just a few months after, its kicking ass and branching nicely. I said it before andll say it once more... Krat knows what to do. I've seen my trees bounce back from some scarey shit and are now gorgeous. Also I've had clones that lost all their leaves, only leaving a rooted stick in the ground... A stick that I more or less Gave up on... Well that fucker knew what to do w itself and trudged along to becoming a plant again.
So moral of the story... Have faith and trust in the tree

Sorry buddy, Theres a no source discussion policy here on these forums. Most vendors have pulled out until the uncertainty of the ban gets a bit more resolution. Many sold out or killed their plants before the 29th of September. I'm sure there's a few out there trying to recover their inventory by taking fresh clones... But it'll be a minute before anything rooted is available most likely. A)there's not a whole lot of security for ppl in that business ATM and B) rooting kratom can sometimes take up to two plus months.its not a week or two week ordeal. It what just hit two weeks since the scare of the ban? Its too soon buddy. Best of luck to you.
And right on ferrel, I like the family portrait esp that bridge Montrose in the back right the rifats are getting juicy... Grow on homie... Looks to me like you're doing something right
Also thumbprint, nice setup bro are those all clones you are trying to root? Is the skinny one, last pic, the mother? If they are clones, make damn sure you cover them in a humidity tent or small container... Like a tubberware or whatever! On the real, cover them... They need a lot of humidity and they need access to fresh, oxygen rich water OFTEN. You can acheive that with just regular misting of once every two to three days. I mist until I see run off. They will thank you and it will not harm them... They won't rot I promise you... As long as they are not sitting in a puddle/pool of water. Don't worry about leaching away the rooting hormone, the fresh clean water and high humidity levels is what they really are after
Happy growing dude

Update: I said I'd post pics of my rifat earlier, so here they are. Seems to be doing well so far, I'm gradually poking more holes in the humidity tent as time goes on to slowly acclimate it to the drier climate we have here.

It looks good but dont worry about ambient humidity. Take the bag off. Its a very resilient plant.

So my small kratom plant dropped both of the remaining leaves today when I moved it. Their is still a healthy bud growing out. Is it just transportation shock? I had it delivered maybe 3 weeks ago. It came with 3 leaves and one fell off earlier this week.

Keep the soil nice and moist STA. Not soggy just keep an eye on it. Make sure it doesn't dry out. If its soft and fleshy, it SHOULD eventually bust open with a fresh node.. But getting there will be somewhat of a delicate process. Is it totally closed or starting to open up some? Might wanna bring it in and keep it in the "infirmary" under a fluoro bulb until it recovers... I only say that because the intense sunlight w no leaves seems as though It could push it closer to drying that tip . I've had them recover at that point but it can take a minute and again it seems to be a bit delicate. Best of luck to you bro... Don't lose hope and don't let it dry out

It's actually in my bedroom getting indirect sunlight. I mist several times daily. There is definitely a new sprout forming so I'm not too worried but I don't want to botch this. Who doesn't want to grow their own kratom?
