A few days since I last replanted from this pot and it's already turning into a jungle again. I'll have to deal with it tomorrow

The ones who got replanted in a different type of soil seem to enjoy the space and the slightly more acidic soil

And then there's the genetic monster of this Green Malay batch. It's gonna be interesting to see his growth the following months.

No rifta yet but i seen som green bumps so it wont be long. Total time to germination 5days. Sowed on 26 Feb 2018.
Thanks again Mateo and Micaele.
You've used quite coarse soil. I was sure that they needed fine soil as seedlings. Am I totally wrong? Yours seems to be growing.
well done

To everyone growing seeds, please be on the lookout for one of those trifoliate mutant seedlings (that put out 3 leaves per node), someone I had sent Rifat seeds to had this one pop up but he wasn't able to keep it alive long enough to ship it to me. That would be an amazing clone to keep around, 33% more yield

I have one like that, but the opposite. It give out 1 leaf per node. Ich liebe nicht
Edit: I know I've posted a picture of it a few pages back

Haha yeah not too great then but still would be interesting to see how it develops.
Has anyone tried grafting kratom? I was thinking of this recently, apparently it's a common practice in producing countries. I want to try to use one of my bigger rifat stocks that lost all their leaves and graft one of these red indo seedlings:

Any idea what other widely available rubiaceae stock could be used?

Mean Green if you do try a graft please let us know I've wanted to try but have quite a few projects on my plate to keep up with at the moment, I would love to know which plant would be a good match.
I just repotted my bumble bee to give it plenty of leg room for the summer, she's blowing up with growth since the humidity and temp came back up to the normal, about 82F-90F+. I'll be taking more cuttings soon, I made the mistake of giving away all my extras last year. This year I'm going to keep almost all of them and start putting them in the ground around the property in the back.

I've been itching to use my grafting shears for many projects this spring. Citrus and Kratom mostly. I had plans of doing it already this year but I have to wait until my Kratoms wake up. I'll be grafting Green Malaysian, Rifat, Bumblebee, hopefully AOE and Hirsuta if they wake up. I'll be doing combinations of each way. My girlfriend got me some grafting shears. I'm going to do some caapi and various psychotria's grafting as well.

You got it going on! Big pot=big growth. I put all mine in 30 gallon totes before putting them in ground. The only bad thing about giving them a big pot before going in ground is digging holes that size. I've been eyeing handheld motorized fence post augers..my buddy has one and it works great. It would take making multiple holes for 1 tub but it's a lot easier than digging the whole thing by hand.

Augers are good for making holes but they also make a round hole and sometimes it polishes the sides of the hole. What this does it cause roots of trees to grow round and round and round, until the plant chokes itself, sometimes to death. It prevents the tree from sending roots out laterally and you end up with a weak root plate. Trees like this often topple over after a few years. You can also shake some trees over years after planting because the roots haven't anchored the plant.
If you use an auger then chip away at the sides of the hole a bit with a spade to roughen the sides of the hole, or change it's shape to not so round.

I wonder if you can use those motorized ice drills for making big holes in the garden?
Like this one Icedrill in action
That particular one seems a little unstable.
This one is better and it can be used to other things also. Good ice drill
I mean ice is much harder than soil, right?
Edit: Ohh, an auger is just what an icedrill on land is. Didn´t know what an auger was untill goggeled it.

Karode thank you for that! I will definitely rough up the sides. I also like to get out my piece of rebar and pound 2ft deep holes all around the perimeter of trees I plant and do it to the mature pecan trees on my property.

As someone who sells motorized ice drills, they are often powered by an 18V drill. It works good on ice, but ice is way easier to pulverize, a single stone in the earth would probably stop an ice drill. Can't guarantee it wouldn't work, but I doubt it.

Haven't tried it, but next week I can give you a picture of a tree with Red Malay & Daun Jambu as scions and Green Malay as rootstock.
There has been a bit of discussion about how much water is too much. This is how someone who grows kratom for living does They stand in some soil in a germinating tray, inside of a bucket of water. They are drenched

These Green Malay is lovely It'll probably need a replant in a few weeks again to make sure it doesn't get it roots entangled with the others.

I had to do something about this today

Another kindly reminder to not sow the seeds too close as it was an inconvenience to seperate these gentle roots

It turned out okay though, but I believe I killed a bunch. They didn't like to be outside of the mini green house for that long, which could be observed by the leaves starting to droop.
The Green Malay that's been in the Kratky for a few days now seems to be enjoying it

Also, the Red Malay isn't growing quick. But they seem to be growing so that's something. Looking at the photo now, I notice it looks as if there are a few more that's going to show up within a few days.
