Nice eye karode, that was an A. confusa cutting I made but it never took.
I saw it on my second look. Shame it didn't take. I'm feeling great!

Im waiting on all of mine too dude. I just snapped em down to the stump. I can see that most of them have greenish stumps which seem to be alive.... so the clock ticks and the waiting continues. Id be happy if just one or two came back. Yikes

Oh yeah. You talking about the quick germ time or the hardcore stump action?
Dude five days is awesome. I cant wait to see where this thread is going. I said it before and will say it again, i love the direction this thread has taken w ppl starting from seed. I never thought us Amercian folks would see the day. Shits pretty kick ass
Green Malay and Thai are two excellent strains. Aside from my quick stint w that RVT, many many pages back, I dont have any experience growing them. But im an everyday kratom eater and those are two of my favorite strains. I hope to one day learn the ropes w each of them and earn myself a few small little trees.
One day I know well see some Maeng Da seeds in action around here. Some ppl think its just a physical char of some types of plants. That all can reach this point and that there is no real, actual variety of Maeng Da, but i dont believe this. I mean, fuck, i can see the arguement and would be willing to accept it if were backed up by science.... but i def think there is a variety out that is true Maeng Da. Arent there cuttings floating around the UK, or just in Europe, for this strain? I want to say I've seen them in one or two online stores. Plus when I was chatting w a farmer or two in Indonesia, they were often very proud to show off branches and harvests of Maeng Da. Idk but It just seems like it is its own strain and just to put it into perspective ferrel, for all the krat that gets harvested and shipped out of Indonesia, The guys i chatted w often spoke very highly of the Malaysian kratom that certain parts of the country share a border with. Dang This was about two years back and i almost landed some seeds from one guy along w some good leaf, but the Indo gov. Blocked my payment and we eventually lost touch

All those strains one can see at the vendors. It seem there is a few different base types of Mitragyna Speciosa and when they grow in different places they get a different name. Like Thai Red Vein seem to become Indonesian Red Vein or Bali red vein. I wonder how many actual varietys there is that are distinctly different from eachother. The Vietnamese horned Kratom look different so it must be a different variety. Fun if we can get some different types to grow and find some that are suited to colder climates.

It's good to keep in mind that vein color is not entirely a genetic thing, the same clone can be green vein or red vein depending on growing conditions.
The strains offered by kratom vendors are not necessarily a matter of genetics, they just name it by vein color, origin, and preparation technique. For example you'll have Red Bali and Premium Red Bali where it's usually simply a selection of the best oldest leaves and better separation of the stems & veins. Or you'll have a Red Bentuangie, which is a red vein that was heap-fermented (that's some of my favourite )
But yeah some are definitely genetically special, like the Horned Kratom or the Elephant Kratom with huge leaves as seen below:

Holy macaroni, are this Elephant variety for real?
Wouldn´t mind a few of those in my growtent.
Yeah, it seems this Kratom variety is a whole science. Very intesting though.
