Nice Kratoms you guys are growing.
I did grow 2 different varietys some years ago, sadley i have none left. Its one of my favorite plants to grow. I hope to get myself a kratom or 2 again in the near future, its an amazing plant.
When i had my kratoms, i tried growing one in a bubbler bucket with a cfl light. It really grew amazingly fast in the bubbler bucket. Anyone here grow their kratoms in a similar way? I will try this again if/when im lucky to find myself a cutting.
Old pic from back in 2012
Happy growing Mateo

It's pretty good, learned a lot about traditional use in Thailand and it was cool seeing wild kratom in the last kratom forest in Thailand. But I feel like they shouldn't have focused only on Thailand, they should have went to Indonesia and visit the actual kratom farms, harvesters, and bulk sellers. I feel like there's very little info out there on the actual process of harvest and conditioning in the producing countries. Especially considering 80 tons of kratom are imported per day according to the viceland vid.
I've seen previews for the episode, but I haven't had the opportunity to watch it yet. I can't wait to see it, I'll have to wait until its available for free on the Vice website. The previews alone were inspiring to continue in my pursuit pf eventually having some kratom tree of my own. We gotta keep the beautiful plant alive!
Anyone have any recommendations for a good quality and affordable grow light that is sufficient to grows kratom inside during the winter months?

I have successfully used a chinese "300w" LED SMD panel to grow kratom, less than 100€ on amazon. Roleadro I think is the brand but any would do they're all the same panels.
Pm'd a link to the vid

sounds great is that blindingly bright? or.. and, it's cold? (yeah i know what the C stands for ) I like the pricing and the fact that it has built in ballast so you dont need a fixture that is more expensive than the lamp itself... i wonder how it relates to the same wattage HID.
What soil composition do you guys use? Jaywise? And what acid for the watering?

So i'm thinking of trying some frankenstin shit this winter if i get some roots on a clone im thinking of doing a bubbler, hydro bucket project just for fun. Well see how it goes..
Anyone ever use that Voodoo Juice stuff for kratom or cloning? Im considering getting a better rooting hormone than the cheap, powder stuff. Also i'd like to try and get my roots nice and developed next season after the many transplants to come. I saw a member here, earlier in the thread, who used a full sized garbage can to grow in. Might've been jizzmaster... yeah i think this year im going to go big like that. Maybe getting one w wheels is a pretty fucking great idea for relocation in the future.
A man's gotta dream yall. I gotta dream. Do you? I gotta a couple if you're looking to buy. Thirty dollars a cloud dawg. Wait... what am i saying? I'm being annoying again. Geez. Here comes the migraines again anyone have any krat plans for the big 18?

Younger plants are said to be not so potent. Potency will vary a lot in seed grown plants, but clones of known potent plants will still retain that potency once cloned.
My old mother plant is finally growing back leaves. It's in decline and I doubt it will survive another Winter, so I must be successful in establishing new plants.

New shoots very healthy and happy looking karode. Glad she's on the come up. Looks like she has a really mature stalk/trunk. Why do you feel like she won't make another winter. Seems rather established.
What variety of krat is this momma?
We need some Maeng Da in the house

I think it's a Rifat, based on it's morphology. The trunk is like 3 inches think. The trunk and main branches have been attacked by a fungus, that strips portions of the bark and eats away at the cambium layer below. Only a matter of time before it suffers a major attack that ring barks or kills it entirely. It's basically a bonsai'd kratom. I got it years ago and before that it was in an even smaller pot. It's probably 12+ years old.

That sucks. There needs to be more legit research on common fungal dieseases, nutritutional demands/sensitivities and animal pests for kratom... but i def think i've noticed them being succestible to fungal infections in the past. Have you tried anything? Does the new growth seem infected? Those leaves look good, maybe try and do a few decent cuts when the time is right. Good luck w her, o hope she pulls through

I think this plants lifetime is coming to an end is all. It's been rootbound for several years and I'm sure it's stressed and tired. Probably why it's been attacked. All new growth is fine and perfect for cuttings. All cuttings I've spread to other growers aren't affected and have more vigour than this plant. It's just time to renew the plant. I'll still keep it around and see how it goes.

Man you guys have some beautiful healthy looking plants. I think I ordered my seedling at the wrong time of year (late summer), as it is having a hard time at the moment. It's just sitting in my office window. Although it didn't look that great when I ordered it either. I think the guys I bought it from may have grown it from seeds , because it didn't have any large healthy leaves, just smaller more fragile leaves. Hopefully it will recover as summer starts up, but I will probably invest in some more seedlings around that time anyways.
In regards to kratom's susceptibility to fungus etc., I don't have much to offer at this time, but I'd just like to remind everyone that if you have any definitive or even anecdotal info you are confident in, please don't forget to share it in the thread linked below. I will continue to update the OP with any info and links that people share, so that we have a concise list of info pertaining to growing kratom, without all the chit chat to parse through!

Skywalker, are you chosing to buy seedlings over clones or are the seedlings your only available option? I dont know anything about seeds or anything that young when it comes to krat. I want to one day though. I almost landed some Maeng Da seeds a while back im sure if im persistent enough though, i might be able to get some one day yeah any info ppl have on sowing and sustaining these little fellars in this thread would be candy af
Between all us crazy fucks, we'll land a good bit of knowledge regarding the proper alien cultivation of this beautiful slice of botanical pie... i said it before, and will say it again, our generation is in a unique position to truly unravel the hunger and boundaries of this plant in a pioneering fashion.
I recently read a thread about the blooming of krat. The OP was from Indonesia and reported that his tree was in bloom. I'll dig it up, it wasn't from the shroomery... i want to say it was an Aussie forum... but i believe it bloomed in the winter time. Perhaps its a seasonal event and if the winter is too cold and its freezing off all the leaves, then its no dice for flower production. maybe one day, if any of us, or anyone for that matter, went the heated greenhouse route, there might be some different results.
I'll see if I can find the thread. Hang tight
