Damn sucks to hear Solipsis... If you got them from the same supplier as me, maybe they're starting to get old. I'm gonna sow a few to test if mine are still viable.

Hmm. I guess that's a possibility. They did start to have a few scruffy leaves once I brought them indoors. I was thinking that or like low light and the plant is getting rid of its older leaves. Hopefully it's ok until April when I put them back outside

Doesnt look like any nutrient defiency, kind of looks like burn. Maybe the cold temps or over fertalization did it like that. They can shed older leaves, typically there's a yellowing, chlorosis that accompanies this process. What you have might just be lockout burn from low temps. I saw a lot of that before the recent freeze we had two days ago. It snowed in Southern Louisiana well it sleeted but regardless, it caused some havoc with my garden. Most of my stuff was okay but about 80-90% of my remaining krat leaves curled under and had to be harvested. It happens though, and was totally expected around this time of the year. I guess winter is finally here

The hirsuta made out like a boss though. I little light chlorosis in the upper leaves is the only scratch it had... which might've been pre-existant to the freeze. Check it out...

Here was the garden shortly before winter came and kicked me in the balls

Afterwards...

The two silver linings

My youngest, and one of the most healthiest, of my krat plants was brought inside when the sleet started to fall. Its a Rifat btw

Until we meet again
Welcome to the hood Crispy.

Shit came like a bat outta hell! Glad your malays look like they'll pull through. None of mine look dire at all. And damn ferrel, thats crazy that they didnt curl under and die off. They must be pretty tough
And back to Crispy... thats my guess as well... cold burn. Even if they're (**edit -->**) NOT out the snow, but still in cold temps, their growth will suffer. ( )

Finished watching the hamilton's pharmacopeia episode on kratom that just came out.
It's pretty good, learned a lot about traditional use in Thailand and it was cool seeing wild kratom in the last kratom forest in Thailand. But I feel like they shouldn't have focused only on Thailand, they should have went to Indonesia and visit the actual kratom farms, harvesters, and bulk sellers. I feel like there's very little info out there on the actual process of harvest and conditioning in the producing countries. Especially considering 80 tons of kratom are imported per day according to the viceland vid.

I'll have to check it out!
All my kratoms are alive after being snowed on. They are damaged but still got leafs. The bumblebee seems to be the most cold tolerant.

What's the coldest your climate gets?
As long as you can keep the stump and roots warm/alive it will grow back. The senna alatas I have planted in the ground died back all the way to ground level after a couple very very cold nights. They came back and grew about 10ft tall before winter arrived and set thousands of seeds.
Im going to bring some soil from the kratoms I have in pots up to work and test(attempt too) for iron and ph. I broke my ph meter and haven't bought a new one yet. I'll probably just test it at work until I find a good deal on a good meter.

I'm in zone 8b, it doesn't get that cold. Lowest of 2015 was -5.5°C, 2016 was -8.5 and so far this year -3.1
I would definitely cover the roots with plastic tarp and probably throw some winter cloth over the tree itself though.
How low does it get where you are?

I'm in 9b so not quite as cold as you are but we get a front every several years that's cold as in down into the mid 20's(f). Not sure on the lowest recorded temperature is for the area but I know about 30 years ago it got very cold and killed a lot of fish in the bays.
