They came.:excited:

Nicely packaged i might add.

2 beautiful root balls.

And now in their happy home.

All in all only 2 small leaves lost on one of them. I expect there to be more leaf fall due to the fact i just transplanted them and then the added stress of the trip and then taken out and :blah:

We should be good and i shall updated.

I just put mine in a 4" pot with some sta-green potting mix with slow release (9 month) fert.  The slow release ferts are encapsulated in a polymer ball that allows water in and out.  So when it rains (or you water) the water gets in and pulls some ferts out little at the time.  It spent a few days in the shade then into the sun.  I've since brought it inside under a 600w mh because I get temps into the low 40s and don't want to risk forgetting to bring it in.

Before anyone bashes me for using "petrol fertilizer".  Most organic soil mixes use the same peat base, that and a mystery mix of "composted forest products", which can include sphagnum peat (which is in ocean forest as well).  The materials depend on which region the manufacturer was in.  Making a mix of Coco and perlite isn't a "soil mix", as neither is soil.  It would be a soiless mix and would basically be a form of hydroponics.  A 50/50 mix of Coco/perlite will give you amazing growth you just have to stay on watering/feeding and under standing the cation exchange capacity of coir.  I'll probably switch to a 50/50 mix for my rifat on the next pot up.

Back to ferts, the reason to use organic is to build up the soil fertility, it's the long game.  The same can't be said for growing in a pot that will be transplanted out of frequently.  The plant can't tell the diffence, it's all NPK as far as the plant is concerned.  I do use both organic and salt based ferts for my in ground garden.  Compost etc to build the soil with weekly or every other week feedings with miracle grow. I mix it in a small pump sprayer and apply small amounts to the root zone of the plant for a boost.

No one has posted a cloning technique yet.  I'll be taking a cutting of mine soon.  The plant I received looked as though it had a cutting taken and one of the remaining tips took over.  It's still got the small side shoot so I'm going to take the leggy section as a cutting and let the smaller tip take over.  Thinking about making a mini bubble cloner for it and hitting it with some IBA.

Any one have a list of known cuts?  I've only ever heard of rifat and bumble bee and now red vein Thai thanks to this thread.

Everyone I need some advice please.

I have Bumble B that arrived recently, the stem is about 12 - 15 long and very thin with 4 leafs at the very top and 2 tiny tiny new growth leafs, the 2 main sets are about a half inch apart.

I wanted to know if I cut the top half of that plant off and root it(to make it less lanky, easier to manage, and so that the stem will thicken up easier) will the bottom half of the leafless stem survive and sprout new shoots and leafs since it already has an established root ball of will it parish do to no leafs for photosynthesis?
