Mine seem to be doing really well in this small extra bedroom I have. The winter sun shines right at the window all day and when I'm home, I plug in this vick's humidifier and I think the plants like that a lot. My bumble bee plant just sprouted it's first leaves since planting and it's not showing any signs of stopping. They sure do dry out a lot faster indoors.

You might want to start thinking about what you are going to do with it a year from now. You'll have a 4'++ Kratom. Good to hear it's alive and well! Keep an eye out for chlorosis. That's the only condition I've had slow down my Kratoms.

I may need to do something special next time around. What about pruning in fall? The rifat is branching out wide. I've noticed some yellowing in some of the branches leaves, but I think those on the branches are due to lack of light. The main stem is doing great. I'm using rain water from my rain barrel to water them.

Fall is a great time to clip, trim and clone your plants. But if you go the clone route, make sure you've the proper indoor accommodations for the cold months to come, when they all root and need transplants

You can definitely clone. I would do it end of august or early sept(at least in my area) when I do a fall prune I have much higher success rates in aug/sept vs October with getting the clones established. That will also give the plant time to recover before daylight gets really low. Green Malaysian is definitely one of the Kratoms that I'll prune sooner than later.

Ive noticed some of what youre saying about taking clones in summer/early fall. They always seem to do better than ones taken at say right now. Maybe because the tissues are more lush, vigorous and healthy. I see a lot of what looks like nutrient lock out w cooler temps. Perhaps this interferes with the viability of tye rooting process somewhat. I can get em to clone right now, but now as fast and not w out some leaf loss and a stall to follow. The summer ones root quick, barely get much of a scratch on them and seem to start growing quicker.

Even the fresh lush growth and trying to root clones from outside plants inside is a different ball game than spring and summer clones. It can be done but like you I've noticed less vigor and slow rooting

So has everyone brought theirs in for the winter? I keep trying to bring mine out during the day but it seems in has now gotten too cold. This is why I hate fall/winter.

Nice ferrel
Man, the hirsuta does even seem phased by the cold. This is my first year growing it and its a slow grower but it seems to be tough as nails and yeah i still have all of mine outside. Took two shitty cuttings the other day.... just in case the worst scenario unfolds they'll prob be alright though. Most of mine are old enough to duke it out i even have a youngin that is killin it.

I swear mine started to droop when they got to 45. So does it hardy every freeze where you are ferrel. Would it be possible to put on in the ground?

Here are mine. They are inside for now unless we get a warm day. For a while I was bringing them in at night outside during the day. But it's getting too cold for that.
I haven't grown them for a full year. So what's to be expected during winter. I have no lights. So should I expect most or all of the leaves to eventually fall off until spring comes back?

They get wider leafs as they get older/larger. If you see wide leafs on a small plant it’s because it’s a clone. Correct me if I’m wrong, not really sure

Well what do you guys make of this? It's appeared on a few of the older leaves. And then they eventually fall. I haven't harvested my plants. And it doesn't seem to be affecting new growth. Do these plant shed their old leaves?
