I was skimming in here the other day and I saw someone (Feral Human?) tried their own harvested leaf... and felt some effects. I read somewhere (probably a vendor's page) that Kratom grown outside its natural habitat is weak to not active...
What do folks in here say? What is your experience?

I've done a little reading online and it seems that there are variables that come into play like age of the plant, time of year the leaves were harvested, etc. I would also like to hear from people on here that have had plants for a while and what their experiences are.

Kratom is def active outside of Asia. I think ppl just say that to keep the kratom industry where it is. Commercial krat is usually cut too. Often W things like matcha tea.
My hg is a little different than commercial krat but its still nice... I think so anyway.
I use to talk w a grower who claimed that coco coir has some microbes in It that are unique to that Asian region. Idk how accurate that is, but thought I'd share.
But yeah... I don't believe that claim about kratom only being active from SE Asian lands. maybe to the degree of potency. Kind of like pot grown in higher altitudes, how its a lot more potent than plants grown in less favorable, environmental conditions. Perhaps its on that plane. I mean fuck, it is native to those soils. But the actives are alkaloids of the plant. Some countries in that region strictly forbid the release or distribution of kratom seeds to anywhere else in the world.

Indeed they are, germination was an absolute breeze just sprinkled in the pot of moist coir/perlite (tap water thats slightly alkaline round these parts) and covered with cling film till i was confident they were big enough to be uncovered, as my first attempt posted on here a few months back ended with them all dying suddenly. I can send you a seed source thats proven good to me and one other guy on here who recognised the vendors baggy the seeds came in. They are a french company but the seeds got to UK (me) no problem and the age of the seeds seems to not matter i planted some the day i got them and a few months later and every seed germinated, i dare say the many seeds i have left would also germinate no problem.

Alright chaps, I'm back and my plant is HUGE.
But as you can see, it's wilting quite a lot. Why? Because I haven't watered it in a bit. Why? Because of a HUGE fungus gnat infestation. It's insane. I just repotted it today and I could see larvae EVERYWHERE. I'm so fucked.
A while ago Thumbprint recommended Neem oil. I'll try that. Do I just spray it on the leaves or soil or do I water the plant with it?
Also, how do I get rid of the incredible amount of fungus in the soil? Any recommended products? All the fungicides I've seen look to be for the leaves only, not for watering the plant with it. I tried to remove as much of it as I could while repotting but obviously there's still a lot. If I don't water the plant, he wilts, and if I do, I get fungus.
Help!

Kratom in a pot needs alot of water.
For,the fungus gnats this worked for me. Drench the soil with hydrogen peroxide diluted 4 to 1 water to,hydrogen peroxide. Works wonders.

Fungus gnats are a bitch.
Take a few clones to prepare for the worst case scenario. Not saying its a strong likelihood, but when faced w shit like this it is best to again be prepared.
I've battled fungus gnats inside but never out (knock on wood!!) So I can't really offer any advice. Indoors tho: a box fan right against the plant, letting them dry out fully before watering next (wilt and all... Which they didn't really like. Killed a few. Most tolerated it and sustained life. But they were not thriving at all. Basically stalled on me), and lastly a DE bomb on soil. Where the entire top of the soil line is blanketed w a layer of DE. This all did the trick. I still see one buzzing around here and there inside, but I rest easy knowing they don't have a chance anymore. But before deeply internalizing that, I should note that I only have young clones and lophs inside now. After the brutal fight last cold season w fungus gnats, I'm not pushing my fucking luck at all... W long term soil plants, esp any container larger than 3".
Shit I wish I had some advice for you, but sadly all I have is good wishes for your struggle. Take some clones. They're clean from parasites. If you're seeing that much larva in the soil, its pretty far along. Did you inspect the new soil well, also did you try and mist all the old soil off the root system before moving into fresh stuff? If the wilting is not harming the plant. Try and let it go really dry. At least two inches down. Krat can halde a little drought and I know we like to water them and all... But sometimes its wise to pull back. How hot or cool are your temps? Do you need to water every day? I'm in the south and I usually need to water every day. But I always check, as if I can let it go a second day I often do. Anyway, when that soil dries good, it can causs the larva to die off. DE is surprisingly some good stuff. But not if the soil is wet a lot. Its great for indoor lophs. It create a sand like crust that dries up fast. Any gnat trying to get in there, will be cut to shreds. But one thin about DE is that its benefits don't come over night. Hell no benefits of fungus gnats come over night.
Good luck.
And I spoke w thumbprint when I was fighting gnats too. It wasn't just neem he suggested, it was NEEM CAKE. I never got a chance to use any, but he swore it was good stuff.

Regarding potency, I remember reading on another forum a few years back about a guy in south Florida that grew kratom. He said he noticed a definite increase in potency after the trees had flowered. His trees grew a lot faster than ours, and they flowered after 3 years at the most. After that his property had kratom seedling sprouting up all around. I doubt many of us will have flowering kratom trees.

True that jizz.
I hope one day I see a bloom. I'm close to FL but were def not identical landscapes. I've heard really good things about growing in FL. I want to say there was even a vendor who was selling domestic leaf for a while

I'm hoping my biggest GM will flower next year now that it's in the ground. I plan on trying air layering again as soon as I start to see new growth emerge come spring. Not going to take cutting in hopes of flowers. Does anyone know if Kratom are self pollinating? Hoping to eventually cross the handful of different Kratos I have then spread the seeds everywhere. Kratom and cactus jungle.

I got a couple pods awhile back. I didn't sow them for a couple months. I didn't get any germination
I solved the yellowing leafs on mine with several light dusting of gypsum, lime, then I watered in some iron and a balanced NPK nutes. They start pushing out fresh dark green growth and the yellow leafs slowly get green but never fully get that dark green back.

I been using slow release fert so maybe the tree has been up takong them, faster than it can release them. Ill see what i can do. I added alot of rusty nails and set screws. Maybe that will help.

Thanks Lipa! Today it was about 25ºC (77ºF), and it's been about that. A bit colder at night. Earlier in the summer it was reaching the 90ºs. I do have to water every day to prevent wilting. Right now my plant is wilted outside and I'm afraid to water it because of the gnats, but I may try H2O2…
Do you have any guides/suggestions on how to take clones? I'm by no means a gardener. I have indoor grow lights so I may be able to do that, if that's how it's done.
I've also noticed what I think is powdery mildew or something. It wasn't as strong white as I've seen online, it was fainter, but spread over a large area on 3 or so leaves. I took the leaves off as a preventive measure. Should I buy spray on fungicide just in case?
